EXCLUSIVE: Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's Epic Escape from Trump Country

In a shocking turn of events, beloved comedian Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have abandoned their posh life in the US, fleeing the country even before Donald Trump's presidency had officially begun. But, as it turns out, this power couple was just getting started on their next big adventure!

Fast-forward to the English countryside, where Ellen and Portia have settled into a luxurious new life, surrounded by rolling hills, picturesque villages, and of course – horses! That's right; these two are living their best lives, complete with a sprawling 11,000 sq ft courtyard home in the Cotswolds, which they've dubbed "heaven" on earth.

The couple recently moved from the Cotswolds farmhouse they snapped up for £15million last year to a single-storey, 11,000 sq ft courtyard home nearby (pictured in 2016)

The couple recently bid adieu to their £15 million farmhouse, snapping up an even more opulent property nearby. And by opulent, we mean it's got all the bells and whistles – including a state-of-the-art horse facility that Portia simply can't live without. After all, as Ellen joked on Instagram, "Portia couldn’t live without her horses" – and neither could she, for that matter!

On Thursday, the 67-year-old comedian shared an adorable snap of her wife riding through the English countryside, looking absolutely radiant on horseback. Alongside the post, Ellen gushed: "Portia’s living her dream riding her horse through the English countryside and into the village. Gosh I hope she comes home soon." Ooh, is there something we don't know about this couple's love story?

Speaking of which, Ellen and Portia celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary just last week – a milestone marked with a sweet video from their special day on Instagram. In the clip, the happy couple is seen surveying the preparations for their big bash, complete with pink flowers, crystal, and name cards for dozens of guests. As Ellen captioned it: "Happy 17th anniversary of the best day of my life. Portia, I love you more everyday. #MarriageForAll."

But what about the reason behind their high-profile move from the US to the UK? Sources close to the couple reveal that they made the decision in response to Trump's election – a move Ellen confirmed on social media earlier this year. As she put it: "Yes, we were hopeful for [Democratic presidential nominee] Kamala [Harris]. We were very hopeful and we thought at least let’s get a place here." Talk about taking a stand!

Now, about that £22.5 million estate they're selling – yes, the one with a 43-acre plot of land and room to spare for Portia's horses. According to insiders, the couple needed more space to accommodate their equine friends, which they've flown over from the US. As Ellen explained in a statement: "When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses. We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them." No wonder they snapped up this stately property – it's got everything on their wish list!

And so, there you have it – the inside scoop on Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's life in the English countryside. Who knew these two were leading such a glamorous lifestyle? Stay tuned for more updates from The Scholarly Note!
