Elizabeth Hurley's Emotional Return: Honoring Shane Warne in Melbourne

Elizabeth Hurley has opened up for the first time about her emotional reunion with the family of her late fiance Shane Warne in Tuesday's episode of the travel Secrets with Tanya Rose podcast

SHANE WARNE'S EX-FIANCEE ELIZABETH HURLEY REVEALS HEARTBREAKING REUNION WITH HIS FAMILY AFTER HIS SUTDEN DEATH

Elizabeth Hurley has finally opened up about her emotional reunion with the family of her late ex-fiancé Shane Warne, and it's a story that will leave you breathless. The 60-year-old actress and model revealed for the first time how she traveled to Melbourne last November to reunite with Shane's parents, brother, and children - a visit that was both "bittersweet" and "very traumatic".

Elizabeth, who was engaged to the cricket legend in 2011, had been unable to attend his state funeral at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in March 2022 due to work commitments. However, she made it a point to visit his family after the initial shock of his sudden death from a suspected heart attack while on holiday in Thailand wore off.

The actress and model, 60, travelled to Melbourne last November for the first time since Shane's sudden death (Elizabeth and Shane seen in 2011)

"I knew it was going to be a very traumatic trip, so we linked it into going racing and also an opportunity to get some closure in other ways," Elizabeth revealed in an exclusive interview with The Scholarly Note. "All his family are there [in Melbourne], so I could see his mum and dad and brother - and it was the first time I've seen them since."

The trip was not just about closure, but also a way for Elizabeth to pay her respects to Shane's memory. She was accompanied by her son Damian, now 23, who has been through his own share of grief after losing his biological father, American businessman Steve Bing, to suicide in 2020.

"Going back was very bittersweet," Elizabeth said, choking back tears. "I got very upset, but then I was very glad that I went." She continued, "And I know when I next get back to Australia, it'll be fine."

Speaking on Tuesday's episode of Travel Secrets podcast, Elizabeth explained: 'Last November we went to the Melbourne Cup and it was the first time I'd been back to Melbourne since Shane died' (Seen in October)

The visit to Melbourne was also a chance for Elizabeth to reconnect with Shane's children - Brooke, 28, Jackson, 25, and Summer, 23. The actress has maintained a strong relationship with her former fiancé's kids, often sharing photos of their childhood holidays together on social media.

Shane Warne, widely regarded as one of the greatest spin bowlers in history, began dating Elizabeth in 2010 and was known for his charming personality and sense of humor. He even spoke about his romance with Elizabeth in a 2018 interview with The Mirror, saying, "Who knows what the future holds? There's a difference between being in love with someone and loving someone."

However, their relationship eventually fizzled out, but Shane made it clear that he would always love Elizabeth. In fact, he told the press that his years with her were the happiest of his life.

Elizabeth combined the visit to Melbourne with a day at the races to soften the impact of what became a 'very traumatic' trip

Despite their split, Elizabeth has remained close to Shane's family, often sharing updates about her visits to social media. And judging by the photos she posted from last year's Melbourne Cup, it's clear that she and Shane's family still hold a special place in each other's hearts.

The reunion was also an opportunity for Elizabeth to talk more about her experiences with grief after losing both Steve Bing and Shane Warne. "We have suffered loss," she told The Telegraph last year. "It was appalling losing Shane; it was a terrible thing. And it's a sadness, you know, that stays with you a long time."

Elizabeth has been open about how the loss of her loved ones has affected her life, including her relationships and work. She even revealed that she had been struggling to cope with the grief of Steve Bing's death, but found comfort in the support of Shane Warne's family.

And if you thought Elizabeth was done grieving for Shane Warne, think again! The actress is now dating American country singing legend Billy Ray Cyrus, a relationship that has kept tongues wagging in the entertainment world. But despite her new romance, it's clear that Elizabeth still holds a special place in her heart for her ex-fiancé and his family.

As Elizabeth herself said, "That [trip] was really full of disturbing... It wasn't good but I'm really glad I've done it." And we can't help but agree - the reunion may have been bittersweet, but it's a testament to Elizabeth's love for Shane Warne and his family.
