Drake's Aussie Tour Cancelled: Fans Left Hanging
DRAKE FLAKES AUSTRALIA: RAPPER'S TOUR SHAMBLES AS HE ABANDONSES FANS WITH CANCELLED SHOWS
The Aussie fans who were hanging on to their hats for Drake's return to Down Under can now exhale... but not because the 38-year-old Canadian rapper has finally made good on his promise to reschedule his postponed shows. Nope, it's actually worse than that.
In a crushing blow to thousands of devoted fans, Live Nation announced on Thursday that the remaining dates of Drake's Anita Max Win tour in Australia and New Zealand have been officially cancelled. The news comes after the rapper abruptly postponed several shows in Brisbane, Sydney, and Auckland in February, leaving his loyal followers high and dry.
But don't worry, folks, it's not like Drake just ghosted everyone and ran off to Fiji on a private jet (although he did do that too). No, according to Live Nation, rescheduling the tour was simply "not possible" due to the rapper's supposedly hectic schedule. Yeah, right.
Drake's Aussie adventure began with a bang in February, with sold-out shows at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. But just as things were getting hot, he suddenly pulled out of his third Brisbane show on March 4, leaving fans scratching their heads.
"Despite extensive efforts to find a solution, rescheduling within the necessary timeframe was not possible," Live Nation's statement said, trying to soften the blow. But let's be real, folks – this is just another example of Drake being Drake: unpredictable and, well, a bit of a flake.
And if you thought that was the worst part, wait until you hear about his Fiji getaway. After partying at The Tax Office in Brisbane until 4 am (yes, really), Drake jetted off to Fiji on a private plane the next morning, before heading back to Canada via Hawaii. Talk about a quick exit strategy.
But did he learn from his mistakes? Hardly. Just days after fleeing Australia, Drake was seen enjoying a lavish welcome home party in Toronto, complete with an Anita Max Win-themed triple-tiered cake featuring slot machines and coins – because, you know, gambling is one of the rapper's favorite pastimes.
The whole debacle has left fans fuming on social media, with some wondering how Drake could have possibly known his schedule was so hectic months in advance. "Why did Drake just cancel the rest of his tour and fly back to Canada?" one frustrated fan asked.
"Drake does this every tour, why are y'all surprised?" another disappointed fan quipped.
As for the cancelled shows, Live Nation has promised to refund tickets and reschedule additional dates – but let's be real, folks, we're not holding our breath. After all, as Drake himself once said, "You only live once" (YOLO, anyone?). And it seems he's living proof of that.
UPDATE: Just days after the news broke about Drake's cancelled Australian tour, the rapper announced another cancellation – this time in Manchester. His live gig at Co-op Live arena was scrapped due to "travel logistics and unforeseen ferry schedule". Yeah, because ferry schedules are always a thing when you're used to flying private.
But don't worry, folks – all tickets for the cancelled shows will remain valid for the new dates... whenever those might be.
