Diddy's High-Stakes Legal Battle: Desperate Move to Dismiss Case
DIDDY'S DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO GET OUT OF JAIL: RAP MOGUL'S TEAM Tries TO TARNISH VICTIM'S CREDIBILITY IN SHOCKING NEW TWIST
In a jaw-dropping move, Diddy's defense team has launched a last-ditch effort to have his case tossed out of court once again. The rap mogul's lawyers are trying to downplay the allegations that he dangled fashion designer Bryana Bongolan off a 17-story balcony at Cassie Ventura's Los Angeles apartment in 2016.
Bryana Bongolan, who has since sued Diddy for $10 million, testified that she was held over the edge of the balcony by Combs after one of his infamous "freak off" parties. But Diddy's team is trying to spin the situation, arguing that a series of texts from Cassie to Kristina Khorram, one of Combs' employees, indicate that Cassie didn't actually witness the incident.
The texts in question were sent by Cassie after she allegedly found out about the alleged incident through another source. The defense is using these texts to suggest that Bongolan's story is a fabrication. But here's the thing: prosecutors have clarified that Cassie's text message indicated it occurred later in the week, around September 29 or 30.
This new information raises even more questions about Diddy's involvement in the alleged incident. And if that wasn't enough, his defense team has also cited images shown by prosecutors of Bongolan's injuries from the alleged incident. The photographs of her bruises and neck injuries were taken on September 26, 2016 - but Diddy's lawyers claim he was on the East Coast at the time and couldn't have committed the alleged crime.
But Bongolan's lawsuit paints a very different picture. According to her complaint, Combs molested and attacked her after one of his notorious "freak off" parties. She claims that he force-fed her ecstasy during a photoshoot and told her, "I'm the mother**g devil. I could kill you."
Bongolan alleged that she was left shaken and traumatized by the incident, which took place at Ventura's apartment in 2016. The fashion designer claimed that Combs had stormed into the bedroom where she and her then-girlfriend were sleeping, violently banging on the door.
When Bongolan tried to fight him off and tell him to leave, Combs allegedly grabbed her roughly and groped her breasts. He then held her over the edge of the balcony under her arms and lifted her onto the banister, screaming, "Do you know what the f* you did?" over and over.
Ventura, who took to the witness stand last week, recounted the violence during her own testimony at Combs' trial. She claimed that she tried to calm Diddy down but he continued to slam Bongolan against the balcony furniture.
Diddy has consistently denied the allegations, claiming that the incident never took place. But Bongolan's lawsuit includes other shocking claims about Combs' behavior, including a rumor that he threatened to blow up Kid Cudi's car after the rapper slept with Ventura.
This is not the first time Diddy's defense team has tried to throw out the trial. Just last week, they attempted to argue that a line of questioning surrounding the destruction of fingerprint evidence related to the Molotov cocktail bombing of Kid Cudi's car implied Combs could buy his way out of trouble.
Prosecutors had asked Los Angeles Fire Department arson investigator Lance Jimenez if the evidence had been destroyed and who might have authorized its destruction. Diddy's defense team claimed that this line of questioning was prejudicial, but Judge Arun Subramanian denied their motion to throw out the trial.
Now, in a shocking new twist, Diddy's lawyers are trying to tarnish Bongolan's credibility by suggesting that she made up the story about Combs' alleged abuse. But with the evidence against him mounting, it remains to be seen whether this desperate attempt will be enough to get him off the hook.
