Denise Richards Demands Ex and Mother Testify in Divorce Abuse Allegations
SCANDALOUS CELEBRITY DIVORCE: DENISE RICHARDS ACCUSES HUSBAND AARON OF PHYSICAL ABUSE, HE CLAIMS SHE'S A "LIAR"
The drama continues to unfold in the high-profile divorce of Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has requested that her estranged husband and his mother testify about her allegations of physical abuse against him at an upcoming court hearing.
According to sources close to the situation, Richards, 54, is planning to take the stand for a whopping six hours to detail the alleged abuse she suffered at the hands of Phypers, 52. Her estranged husband is expected to testify for around four hours, and his mother, Patricia Phypers, 84, will allegedly spend an hour on the witness stand.
The drama began when Richards filed for protection against Phypers in July, accusing him of horrific abuse that spanned their entire six-year marriage. In court documents obtained by TheScholarlyNote.com, Richards described the alleged abuse in graphic detail, claiming that Phypers would frequently violently choke her, slap her in the face and head, and even threaten to kill her.
Phypers has vehemently denied the allegations, telling TheScholarlyNote.com, "Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone." However, an insider close to Richards' ex-husband branded her a "liar" in a statement to TMZ and said that Phypers filed for divorce after Denise made multiple promises to end an alleged yearlong affair.
The allegations of abuse come amidst a messy divorce battle between the couple. Aaron has requested spousal support of around $105K/month, claiming he has no income. Richards, on the other hand, is seeking to turn her temporary restraining order against Phypers into a permanent one.
But it's not just the allegations of abuse that are causing tension in this divorce. The couple's home in Calabasas was allegedly left in disarray by Phypers and his family after Richards vacated the property last year. In court documents, Richards claimed that Aaron and his parents had "severely damaged" the home and left it in a state of disarray.
However, a source close to Phypers denied Richards' claims, telling Us Weekly that the family had actually heavily cleared up the residence after Denise left. The photos shown to the court depict various rooms with clutter strewn about, but Phypers' supporters claim this is just a result of Richards' hasty departure.
In a bizarre twist, Richards reportedly showed up at the couple's home unannounced last month, demanding to retrieve her dog and belongings. Aaron was allegedly home when she arrived, but he quickly left due to concern over the restraining order. Phypers' parents let Richards inside, but things quickly escalated as she "barged in, demanded the dog" and "screamed at his parents that they needed to get out of the house," according to TMZ.
Richards was subsequently questioned by three Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies outside the home, but no arrests were made. The drama is far from over for this celebrity couple, with Richards expected to take the stand next Monday to detail her allegations against Phypers.
