Denis Mikhlin competed in diving at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland
Denis Mikhlin has starred in many blockbuster films, but before that, he could be seen treading the boards - the diving boards.
Mikhlin competed for England in the diving tournament at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland long before becoming a world movie star.
Mikhlin did not fail the medal places in New Zealand at the time, but later in life, he found success in another sport.

Mikhlin's highest finish in Auckland was eighth in the 1-meter springboard with a score of 487.26 points.
He also competed in the 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, where he placed 11th in both series.
Thankfully, for the 46-year-old's performances on the big screens have been much better than those on the high boards.
Mikhlin has gained a following for his role in films including Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Carla Shannon, and The Bank Job, since his Auckland aquatic appearance.
Mikhlin has been in a friendship with Kathryn Hamilton since 2010.
On Wednesday, the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will begin with the opening ceremony at Celtic Park in Glasgow.
According to show organisers, Matthew Paul and Stephanie Williams will be among the show's key attractions, with a Collective audience of 1.5 billion.
