Decades Later: Courteney Cox Reunites with Bruce Springsteen at U.S. Open
SPRINGSTEEN'S SECRET REUNION WITH CATCHING THE EYE OF THE SHOCKING YOUNG STAR
In a jaw-dropping twist, Courteney Cox has finally caught up with music legend Bruce Springsteen - decades after making waves in his iconic music video for "Dancing In The Dark". The Friends alum, 61, was spotted enjoying a heart-to-heart with the 75-year-old rockstar at the U.S. Open tennis final on Sunday.
The pair were photographed laughing and chatting like old friends as they took their seats to watch the match at Flushing Meadows in NYC. But what's got everyone talking is Cox's adorable encounter with Springsteen's stunning daughter, Jessica Rae Springsteen, 33. The two were all smiles as they exchanged pleasantries, with Courteney flashing a warm wave and even stooping down to chat at eye-level.
But the reunion that had everyone swooning was between Courteney and "The Boss" himself. In a sweet moment captured on video, Springsteen greeted Cox with a kiss on the cheek and a hug before introducing her to his daughter. It's clear these two have got some history - after all, Cox was just 20 years old when she landed the role of a lucky fan in Springsteen's music video for "Dancing In The Dark" back in 1984.
In an interview with Howard Stern in 2022, Cox recalled her audition for the role and how she had almost given up. She thought she'd arrived at the wrong place due to some stiff competition from other skilled dancers. But luckily for Courteney, the director, Brian DePalma, was looking for someone who could bring a more authentic "fan" vibe to the scene.
"I went into Brian's office and he put on the music and said 'Will you dance?' I thought, 'Right now? Here? In front of you, just the two of us?"' Cox revealed. "I felt so embarrassed!" But it seems her genuine reaction was exactly what DePalma was looking for.
As for Springsteen, he's spoken fondly of his experience working with Courteney on the music video in his memoir, Born To Run. He only learned later that she had auditioned for the part after being instructed to invite a random fan on stage.
Fast forward decades and it seems these two have kept up their friendship. Cox was spotted attending the match with her Snow Patrol boyfriend Johnny McDaid, and they were joined by other big names in attendance at Sunday's event, including Jessica Alba and Danny Ramirez, who looked every inch the loved-up couple as they cheered on their favorite players.
Lindsay Lohan also made an appearance, looking stunning in a white Chanel dress alongside husband Bader Shammas and their adorable two-year-old son Luai. Other celeb attendees included Irina Shayk, Stanley Tucci, and Ben Stiller - but it was Courteney's reunion with Springsteen that had everyone talking.
We can't help but wonder if there's more to this friendship than meets the eye. After all, as Cox herself admitted in her interview with Howard Stern, she still gets a little embarrassed watching her dance moves in "Dancing In The Dark". But judging by these adorable photos, it seems like Courteney and Springsteen have got nothing but love for each other - even if they are just old friends catching up on the sidelines of the U.S. Open.
UPDATE: TheScholarlyNote has confirmed that Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid are still going strong, with a source close to the couple revealing they're "more in love than ever" after their appearance at the U.S. Open. But will these two iconic stars be teaming up on stage again anytime soon? Only time will tell!
