David Tennant’s wife Georgia has opened up about their life at home - revealing that several of their children are neurodiverse

EXCLUSIVE: David Tennant's Wife Georgia Spills the Tea on Raising a Family of Eccentrics

In a candid and refreshingly honest interview with The Scholarly Note, David Tennant's wife Georgia has lifted the lid on what life is like behind closed doors in her household. As the mother of five children, including four with husband David, Georgia has faced her fair share of challenges - but it's clear she wouldn't have it any other way.

Georgia, 40, who met her actor husband on the set of Doctor Who back in 2008, opens up about the unique dynamics of their family. With three out of five children being neurodiverse, mealtimes can be a bit of a free-for-all - but that's just part of the charm.

The actress and producer, 40, who married the Doctor Who star in 2011, said they only eat together as a family once a year as two of their five children have special requirements (Georgia did not specify which two children are neurodiverse)

"I don't get why people sit down to eat together all the time," Georgia quips on The Scholarly Note's Five Brilliant Things podcast. "We've got two kids who are super sensitive and won't eat with anyone else, so they go off in separate rooms to have their meals." It seems like a logistical nightmare, but Georgia insists it's just a normal part of life for her family.

Mealtime is more like a military operation than a family dinner party. "I spend about two and a half hours serving different kids in different rooms," she reveals. "It's chaos, but it's our chaos." And as for eating together as a unit? Forget it. "We never do," Georgia admits bluntly. "Christmas is the only time we all sit down together."

Georgia's journey to motherhood began when she was just 16 years old, with her first child Ty (now 23 and an actor in his own right). "It was easy, lovely, and great - I didn't have any preconceived ideas about how difficult parenting would be," she says with a smile. Of course, things got more complicated from there, but Georgia wouldn't trade it for the world.

Georgia and David, 54, met on the Doctor Who set in 2008 when she played his genetically engineered daughter, Jenny, in the episode Doctor's Daughter

"I like that they're all so different," she gushes. "It's fascinating to see what they bring to the table." And each child is unique in their own way - from Olive's sensitive nature to Wilfred's boundless energy, and Doris' love of drawing. Birdie, the youngest at just five years old, brings her own special brand of chaos to the family.

Georgia also opens up about her own personal quirks and preferences when it comes to food. "I'm really particular about what I eat," she confesses. "I like everything separated - no touching allowed." This unusual trait has led to some funny moments with her husband, who prefers his sandwiches overflowing with multiple ingredients. "He's a potato man," Georgia laughs.

As an actress and producer in her own right, Georgia is used to juggling multiple roles at once. But it's clear that being a mom to five is her most challenging - and rewarding - job of all. When asked if she'd change anything about her unconventional family setup, she smiles mischievously.

The pair welcomed their youngest, a daughter called Birdie, in 2019

"No way," she says firmly. "I wouldn't trade it for the world." And there you have it - Georgia Tennant's take on life as a mom to five neurodiverse kids and a husband who loves his sandwiches with all the fixings. It may not be conventional, but it's clearly working for them.
