Cybill Shepherd: A Rare Glimpse at the Iconic Moonlighting Star!

Fans of iconic ¿80s TV were in for a treat when beloved star Cybill Shepherd stepped out in Los Angeles on Friday; (seen in 1984's Secrets of a Married Man)

CYBILL SHEPHERD SPILLS TEA ON BRUCE WILLIS' ROCKY DAYS ON MOONLIGHTING

The 1980s were a wild time for TV, and Cybill Shepherd was right in the middle of it all. The 75-year-old actress, who rose to fame with her breakout role on "The Last Picture Show" in 1972, made a rare appearance at the opening of the play "Heartbreak Kid" in Los Angeles last Friday.

But what really got our attention was Cybill's cheeky smile and sassy style, which looked like it hadn't aged a day. Gone were the days of her iconic "Taxi Driver" look – we're talking about those enviable 1970s vibes where she played the object of Robert De Niro's affections as Mary Beth in the cult classic. Who could forget that unforgettable scene where she stood on the rooftop, looking like a bohemian goddess?

Cybill also looked very different from her glamorous days as Madelyn Hayes on the detective comedy-drama Moonlighting (1985¿1989), where she starred opposite Bruce Willis; (seen in 1988)

Fast-forward to her days as Maddie Hayes on "Moonlighting," the detective comedy-drama series that aired from 1985 to 1989 and starred Cybill alongside the dashing Bruce Willis. Their on-screen chemistry was undeniable, but their off-screen relationship was another story altogether.

In a shocking admission, Cybill revealed in an interview with Extra back in 2005 that she and Bruce had a famously rocky working relationship. "We just hated each other at one point," she confessed about the tumultuous dynamics between them on set. "It was a very volatile show anyway, but that's also what made it great."

And make no mistake – Cybill wasn't just talking about their professional differences. Their complicated history has been well-documented over the years, with rumors of feuds and even reported clashes on set.

Dressed in a playful floral top and casual jeans, she looked a far cry from the boho-chic style she sported as the object of Travis Bickle¿s ( Robert De Niro ) infatuation in Taxi Driver

But despite all the drama behind-the-scenes, Cybill won two Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series — Comedy or Musical in 1986 and 1987, and was nominated again in 1988. She also received an Emmy nomination in 1988 for her work on the series.

And if that wasn't enough, Cybill continued to slay the small screen with her iconic sitcom "Cybill," which aired from 1995 to 1997. The show earned her three more Emmy nods and a Golden Globe win in 1996 – just to top off an already impressive resume.

But what's really caught our attention lately is Bruce Willis' very public battle with frontotemporal dementia, announced by his family in March 2022. In the wake of this news, Cybill spoke warmly about her former co-star at a benefit gala in Los Angeles last May, praising his natural charisma and undeniable talent.

Cybill appeared in high spirits as she made a rare appearance for the play opening Heartbreak Kid

"I will always love Bruce," she told Extra at the time. "He was just so talented – no one else was ever considered for the part when he walked into the room."

We can't help but wonder what really went down between these two Hollywood heavyweights during their time on "Moonlighting" – and we're still trying to figure out how they managed to pull off that iconic chemistry despite all the drama.

Whatever the truth may be, one thing's for sure: Cybill Shepherd is still as sassy and captivating as ever, and we can't wait to see what she does next.

Her breakthrough role came in 1972¿s The Last Picture Show with Jeff Bridges
