Courteney Cox, 61, confidently showed off an array of makeup-free selfies on Instagram while also getting candid about a private health battle; seen in 2023 in NYC

Courteney Cox Bares It All: The Friends Alum Unveils Her Makeup-Free Face and Opens Up About a Private Health Battle

In a bold move, Courteney Cox has taken to Instagram to share a series of makeup-free selfies, giving her fans a rare glimpse into her private life. But what's more surprising is that the actress, 61, has been battling a very public health issue - a skin condition caused by allergic reactions.

The Scream star posted a video montage on her Instagram feed, accompanied by the track "Lovesick Lullaby" by YUNGBLUD. However, it was her candid caption that really caught our attention: "Allergic reaction," she typed out, as if acknowledging the elephant in the room.

And what a room it is! The photos show Cox's face turning bright red, like a ripe tomato. Her cheeks, chin, and forehead are all affected, giving her a rather...fascinating appearance. It's clear that the actress is not one to shy away from showing off her imperfections.

But this isn't just about vanity; Courteney has been open about her struggles with skin issues for quite some time now. In fact, she recently opened up about using facial fillers in the past, only to have them removed when she realized they were doing more harm than good. "It's a domino effect," she said on an episode of The Gloss Angeles podcast last year. "You don't realize that you look a little off, so then you keep doing more because you look normal to yourself."

But back to the present day, and Courteney's Instagram post has been met with an outpouring of support from her 15 million followers - including several high-profile celebrities. One fan commented: "In a world obsessed with filters and fake perfection, Monica just reminded us that being real is the real flex." Another added: "Love every single one of these❤️," while a third typed: "it kills me how good you look from any angle!!! You're gorgeous in every possible way."

However, the star revealed that she has been suffering from allergic reactions which has resulted in her face turning red

Even YUNGBLUD himself responded to the post with a simple but heartfelt message: "THE courteney cox."

But what's perhaps most interesting about this whole saga is Courteney's long-term relationship with Snow Patrol band member Johnny McDaid. The pair began dating back in 2013, got engaged in 2014 (but called it off in 2019), and yet remain together to this day. Talk about a love story for the ages!

And if all that wasn't enough, Courteney also took to Instagram last month to celebrate her daughter Coco's 21st birthday. "From this to this," she captioned a series of photos showcasing her little girl's growth from infancy to young adulthood. "My heart barely fits inside my chest for the amount of love I have for you." Aw, isn't that just the sweetest thing?

More photos in the post showed the actress suffering from a number of allergic reactions

But back to Courteney and her skin woes. In addition to her allergic reactions, the actress has also been open about her struggles with acne - a common problem for many women (and some men!) in their 60s. "Half-human, half-Vulcan?" she quipped on one of her Instagram posts, referencing that iconic Star Trek character.

All joking aside, Courteney's post serves as a powerful reminder to her fans: you don't have to be perfect all the time. In fact, being real and embracing your flaws is often the most beautiful thing of all.

So here's to Courteney Cox - the ultimate friend (pun intended!) who continues to inspire us with her unapologetic honesty and her unwavering commitment to self-acceptance. Cheers to you, Courteney!

Cox continued to show off her make-up free look when she was sick and 'feeling sorry for myself'

The Scream actress also made a funny face towards the camera and playfully penned, 'Not too sure about this one'

A closeup selfie was taken as the star sported a layer of mascara to her long lashes and joked, 'Oh s*** is this what I look like?'

Along with allergies, Courteney was also honest about another skin concern: acne - and uploaded a picture as she dealt with a pimple on her cheek

The star took a snap of her side profile and added the text, 'Half-human, half-Vulcan?'

While sitting on a couch, Cox showed off her red face amidst another reaction and wrote, 'Enough with the allergic reactions'

She concluded her latest post as she flashed a small smile towards the camera while crouching next to a bouquet of flowers

'In a world obsessed with filters and fake perfection, Monica just reminded us that being real is the real flex,' a fan penned, referencing to Cox's character in Friends
