Country Controversies: Hayley Williams Fires Back at Morgan Wallen

Morgan Wallen (pictured November 2023) has been savaged by a fellow Nashville musician who has branded him a racist four years after his N-word controversy and after bodycam footage of his 2024 arrest emerged

MORGAN WALEN'S CONTROVERSY ROCKET FUELLED BY NEW ARREST FOOTAGE

It's been a wild ride for country music star Morgan Wallen, and it just got even more explosive! The 31-year-old singer-songwriter is no stranger to controversy, but his latest antics have left fans and fellow musicians alike scratching their heads.

RACIST COUNTRY SINGER?

Popular singer Hayley Williams (Pictured in Paris on Tuesday) confirmed that her controversial lyric about a 'racist country singer' was indeed about the 31-year-old I'm The Problem hitmaker and even named the place she would be if he ever wanted to confront her about it

In a shocking turn of events, Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams dropped some major tea on her recent podcast appearance. When asked about the lyrics in her song "Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party," Williams spilled that she was indeed talking about Wallen - and not just any part of him, but his racist tendencies.

"I'll be the biggest star at this racist country singer's bar," she sings in the chorus, and it seems like she's calling out Wallen directly. When asked who she was referring to, Williams was blunt: "It could be a couple, but I'm always talking about Morgan Wallen, I don't give a s*."

FIND ME AT WHOLE FOODS

Back in July she released the track Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party - which is the titular track from the album she released last month (pictrued) - as she sings in the chorus: 'I¿ll be the biggest star at this racist country singer¿s bar'

But that's not all - when asked where fans can find her if they want to confront her about the lyrics, Williams gave a cheeky response: "Find me at Whole Foods b**, I don't care." It seems like she's daring Wallen (or whoever he's working with) to come after her.

FROM RACIST SLURS TO CHAIR-THROWING

It's no secret that Wallen has had his fair share of controversies in the past. Who could forget the 2021 incident where he was caught on tape using a racist slur outside his home? He was subsequently banned by several major corporations, but after just four months, they quietly allowed stations to play his music again.

Hayley (pictured in London in June 2024)  said: 'It could be a couple but I¿m always talking about Morgan Wallen, I don¿t give a s***'

And then there was the N-word controversy that followed - but somehow, it only seemed to fuel Wallen's popularity. According to reports, his streaming numbers skyrocketed by a whopping 500% after fans responded to him using the slur by listening to his music more than ever.

When Good Morning America's Michael Strahan asked Wallen if he thought this surge in popularity could be a sign of racism lurking in the country music industry, Wallen was characteristically nonchalant: "I hadn't really thought about that."

SIT-DOWN WITH THE NAACP? NOT SO MUCH

Meanwhile, slurring Wallen denied to police that he chucked a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar in newly-released footage from the ugly April 2024 incident

But what's even more shocking is that after the N-word incident, Wallen reportedly expressed interest in having a sit-down with the Nashville NAACP. However, TMZ later reported that he stopped taking their calls and went back to touring.

It seems like Wallen has a pattern of ignoring accountability - or at least pretending to be interested in making amends before going back to business as usual.

NEW ARREST FOOTAGE LEAKS

Back in December 2024, the Cowgirls hitmaker smirked in court as he pled guilty

And now, just when you thought things couldn't get any juicier, new bodycam footage from the 2024 incident where Wallen threw a chair off the roof of Eric Church's bar Chiefs has been released. The footage shows Wallen being questioned by police and denying any wrongdoing - despite having pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment just months later.

When asked what happened, Wallen responded: "I don't know." But another person in the clip insists that he was indeed the one who threw the chair. When pressed further, Wallen told law enforcement: "We're not trying to cause no problems, man. I don’t know why."

SEVEN-DAY SENTENCE

Now body cam footage has revealed Wallen's shocking five-word response to law enforcement pressing him over the matter as the musician sat in the back of a police cruiser as he insisted on his innocence by telling them: 'I ain't done nothing wrong'

In a bizarre twist, Wallen smirked in court as he pled guilty to the charges and was sentenced to seven days in a DUI education center. He's also been placed on two years of supervised probation.

It seems like Morgan Wallen has once again managed to skate by with relatively light consequences for his actions - but will this controversy finally be the one that puts an end to his reign as country music's "king" of controversy? Only time will tell!

TheScholarlyNote.com is still waiting to hear back from reps for Wallen, but it seems like he's got more than enough on his plate to deal with right now. Stay tuned for more updates on this drama-filled saga!

He was arrested on three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor charge on April 7 (his mugshot released by the Metro Nashville Police Department on April 8, 2024)
