SCANDALOUS PAYDAY! Comedian Marc Maron Spills the Tea on Taylor Swift's Shocking $50,000 Fee for Using Her Music in His Stage Show!

Marc Maron, the 61-year-old comedian and podcast kingpin, has just dropped a bombshell on thescholarlynote.com: he paid a whopping $50,000 to use Taylor Swift's music in his stage show! The comedy legend dished about the deal on Vulture's Good One podcast, revealing that it took him "everything" to convince Swift's longtime collaborator, Jack Antonoff, to make the magic happen.

"I think it came out to around $50K," Maron said, trying to keep a straight face. But let's be real, folks – that's a small fortune! The comedian went on to explain how he initially reached out to Antonoff, saying, "I don't know what's proper or how to do this, but we're running out of money on this thing. It's probably going to come out of my pocket. Is there anything you can do about that song or talk to Taylor?"

'I think it came out to $50K, around that. I did everything I could to get the joke in front of her,' he said about spoofing the 35-year-old singer's 2022 song Bigger Than the Whole Sky; Swift pictured in February

Antonoff directed Maron to "go through the proper channels" to obtain a license for the song, which was featured on Swift's Midnights album. And let me tell you – it wasn't cheap! The fee allowed Maron to sing just a minute of the tune before incurring additional financial consequences.

"If I would have gone over the minute, it would have been more money," he warned. "We couldn't even let it play out the special or anything. So, I got together with a band and wrote that music as the opening and closing." Yeah, you heard that right – Maron had to write his own music to get around Swift's strict licensing terms!

But why did Maron go to such great lengths to use Swift's song? According to him, it was "history" – he just had to do it. And let's be real, folks – when it comes to Taylor Swift, you don't mess with her music! The comedian revealed that he felt the need to play the song during his standup set because "it had to happen." And honestly, who can blame him?

The real question is – has Swift herself heard Maron's bit? Sadly, we may never know. But what we do know is that Maron and his producer, Brendan McDonald, are ending their popular podcast WTF With Marc Maron later this year.

"It was not some kind of difficult decision, necessarily," Maron said about the podcast's impending demise. "Neither me nor Brendan – who are the only people in charge of this operation on every level – we both realized together that we were done." And with that, an era comes to a close.

But don't worry, folks – Marc Maron is still keeping busy! He's currently promoting the animated family comedy The Bad Guys 2, which hits theaters August 1. So, if you're looking for some laughs and excitement, be sure to check it out!

He said about the cost, 'It was doable. We made enough money. It was tight, but because of the ticket sales for the [televised version of the] special, we are able to get that song'; pictured in 2019
