Cobra Kai Controversy: Martin Kove's Bizarre Excuse After Bit Co-Star
SCANDAL ROCKS COBRA KAI SET: ACTRESS ALICIA HANNAH-KIM FILMED SCREAMING AT CO-STAR MARTIN KOVE AFTER BITE ATTACK
The streets of Puyallup, Washington were left in shock when a bizarre incident unfolded at the Washington State Summer Con fan convention. Actress Alicia Hannah-Kim, 37, was left reeling after being bitten by her co-star Martin Kove, 78, who plays John Kreese on the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai.
The drama unfolded when Kove, dressed in his iconic sensei attire, allegedly sunk his teeth into Hannah-Kim's arm during a fan convention. The actress, known for playing Kim Da-Eun on the show, was visibly shaken and screamed in pain as her co-star bit down too hard.
"It was like he had lost his mind," an eyewitness revealed to The Scholarly Note. "Alicia was crying and screaming, and Martin just kept talking about how it was all 'just a joke' or some nonsense."
In exclusive footage obtained by The Scholarly Note, Kove is seen attempting to downplay the incident, claiming he was simply "playing" with his co-star.
"I tried to say that, and I, you know, to try and find her the moment I arrived in the green room just to say, I'm sorry, darling, I apologize and I didn't mean to hurt you, you know, because we play all the time, we pop we hit, we do stuff all the time because she's a female sensei," Kove is heard saying.
But Hannah-Kim was having none of it. "You cannot bite people, that is not okay. You have left a mark on my body, which in your 80-year-old brain, you think is play. Sir, were you raised in a ditch? You yelled at me! You had the audacity! How dare you, sir," she fumed.
The incident left Hannah-Kim with a noticeable bite mark on her arm that was already turning blue and bruising. An officer was called to the scene, where Kove was informed that he had committed a crime by biting his co-star.
Kove's response? "I didn't interpret the bite as a crime." But when the officer told him otherwise, he apologized profusely, claiming he was ashamed of his behavior and would never repeat it again.
Despite Kove's public apology, the incident has left many in the Cobra Kai fandom reeling. The show, which originally aired on YouTube Red before moving to Netflix, enjoyed a strong run spanning six seasons. The series followed Kreese's old student Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio), which ended its run back in February.
As the drama surrounding Kove's actions continues to unfold, many are left wondering how this could have happened on the set of a show known for its martial arts action and high-stakes drama. The incident has sparked heated debate among fans, with some calling for Kove to be fired from the show.
Meanwhile, Hannah-Kim is said to be focusing on her upcoming projects, including the South Korean TV series "The North Star." As for Kove? He'll next be seen in the thriller "Killing Mary Sue" alongside Sean Patrick Flannery, Dermot Mulroney, and Jason Mewes.
