Chrisley Reunion: Emotional Homecoming After Two Years Apart in Prison
LOCKED UP AND LOVING IT: TODD AND JULIE CHRISLEY SPILL ON LIFE BEHIND BARS
In a shocking turn of events, reality TV royalty Todd Chrisley and his wife Julie have been serving time for bank fraud and tax evasion - but their love story is still going strong! The Chrisley Knows Best stars were finally released from prison after receiving a pardon from none other than Donald Trump himself.
But what was it like to see each other again after two long years apart? In an exclusive interview with ABC News Studios, the power couple dished on their emotional reunion. "I was a little nervous," Julie confessed. But when she saw Todd, all her jitters melted away. "It was as if no time had passed." Ah, romance is still alive and well in this household!
Todd, 56, revealed that he never really considered himself apart from his wife - even during their prison stint. "She was with me every second, every breath I took," he gushed. So when they finally reunited, it was like no time had passed at all. "I mean, when I saw her, I was grateful to wrap my arms around her, but it was just more like, 'I’m home.'"
But let's get real - there were some serious feels going down during their reunion. "Laughter and tears," Julie revealed. And we're guessing that wasn't just because they were reunited with each other... "A lot of that came after the cameras were not on," Todd hinted.
After all that time apart, you'd think they'd want to celebrate by hitting up the local hotspots - but nope! The first thing on their agenda was a family dinner. And let's be real, we can't blame them one bit. "You know, we get to start over," Todd said with a smile.
But what about the little luxuries in life? Sleeping in your own bed again is basically heaven, right? For Todd and Julie, it's not just that - showering without having to wear those dreaded shower shoes was like a dream come true. "It was almost like your first sexual encounter. That good," Todd joked.
Of course, the real highlight of their reunion was reuniting with their 12-year-old daughter Chloe. "You know, even though we had gotten to see each other [during visitations], it’s not the same as when you’re home," Julie said. And we can only imagine how special that moment must have been.
But before they got to enjoy all those little pleasures, Todd opened up about his thoughts during their sentencing. "I remember going in and that night, I was so angry with God... I cried myself to sleep because it's the first time Julie and I have ever been away from each other since we were married." And let's be real, who wouldn't be furious if they were being taken away from their loved one?
Todd served 10 years at the Pensacola Federal Prison Camp in Florida, while Julie was imprisoned three states away at the Federal Medical Center Lexington in Kentucky. But even behind bars, their love never wavered.
And now that they're back home, Todd's reflecting on that fateful day when he and Julie received a pardon from Donald Trump himself. "I remember going to President Trump and saying, 'Why are you allowing this to happen? You know these things are not true.' And in my dream, God came to me and said that I have planted you where I need you and when you leave, they will rise."
Fast forward to the present, and it seems like that dream has come true. "So I am grateful for that," Todd said with a smile.
And on that note, we're left wondering - what's next for this power couple? Will they be returning to reality TV or taking their show on the road? One thing's for sure - their love story is one for the ages!
