Golden Bachelor Bombshell: Chrishell Stause Fires Back at 66-Year-Old's Ageist Remarks

The drama is heating up on the set of The Golden Bachelor, with reality star Chrishell Stause taking a stand against 66-year-old Mel Owens' outrageous demands for his future love interest. In an Instagram post that has left fans reeling, Stause, 43, slammed Owens' ageist and misogynistic remarks, calling out his "wholesome" energy-ruining behavior.

The controversy began when Owens shared a podcast interview on June 4, revealing his shocking requirements for the women vying for his affections. On The MGoBlue podcast, he spilled that producers asked him about his preferences, to which he replied, "What's my profile? Well, they got to be fit because I'm staying in shape and work out and stuff." But things took a dark turn when he added, "Try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs, you know, that kind of stuff, right?"

Stause, 43, shared this post in her Instagram Stories on Thursday, writing 'We love the Golden Bachelor because of how wholesome it is. This type of energy will ruin it'

Stause was not having it. In her Instagram Stories on Thursday, she wrote, "We love The Golden Bachelor because of how wholesome it is... This type of energy will ruin it." Her post quickly went viral, with fans and fellow reality TV stars alike calling out Owens' ageist and body-shaming remarks.

The backlash against Owens has been swift and merciless. Fans of the franchise have taken to social media to express their outrage, with many vowing to boycott the show if Owens is not replaced. One angry viewer wrote on The Scholarly Note, "I'm done with this franchise if you move forward with him. Have some respect for women."

Another fan penned, "This is so sad. I can't believe TPTB knew this man didn't want a golden lady and cast him anyway." Meanwhile, yet another supporter of the show tweeted, "So misogynistic to say no wigs or women over 60. Please replace him for someone who appreciates women of a certain age, which is the entire point of this show."

Owens, 66, a former NFL star shared his age requirements while on the MGoBlue podcast on June for saying he wanted to 'cut' any women older than 60 from competing

The controversy has left fans wondering what other demands Owens may have made during his casting process. Has he also specified an ideal height, weight, or hair color? The questions are endless, and one thing is clear: Chrishell Stause will not be silenced.

As for whether Owens' season of The Golden Bachelor will still move forward, only time will tell. ABC has yet to announce a premiere date for the show, but if the backlash continues to grow, it's possible that the network may reconsider their plans.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story, and in the meantime, sound off in the comments: do you think Mel Owens is the right fit for The Golden Bachelor?
