Charli XCX Sings Incognito at Lido Festival Before Her Star-Studded Show
CHARLI XCX STEALS THE SHOW AT LIDO FESTIVAL: INSIDE HER SULTRY PERFORMANCE AND SHOCKING ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT
The Queen of Quirkiness, Charli XCX, took over London's Brockwell Park on Saturday as she headlined the sold-out Lido Festival in front of a whopping 35,000 screaming fans. But before she brought the house down with her electrifying performance, the 32-year-old songstress slipped under the radar and watched some of her favorite acts from the crowd.
Sources close to Charli revealed that she was spotted smoking a cigarette while enjoying Japanese House's mesmerizing set on the main stage. The singer, known for her edgy style and fearless attitude, seemed completely carefree as she took in the sights and sounds of the festival.
But don't be fooled - Charli XCX is never one to go unnoticed for long. When it was finally time for her to take the stage, she transformed Brockwell Park into a pulsating dance club with strobe flashing lights, thumping techno beats, and even a waterfall (yes, you read that right!). The crowd went wild as Charli worked her way through her critically-acclaimed album "Brat," sipping on an Aperol spritz while wearing tiny hotpants.
The highlight of the night came when Charli brought out surprise guest Amelia Dimoldenberg to perform the iconic Apple Dance. The two girls danced their hearts out, getting the crowd to join in on the fun. It was clear that this was a performance for the ages - and not just because of Charli's outrageous outfits.
But what really got tongues wagging is Charli's latest interview with Culted at the Cannes International Film Festival. In it, she confessed that she's no longer worried about churning out chart-topping hits like "Brat." In fact, she admitted that commercial success isn't even on her radar anymore. When asked about her next album, Charli revealed that she's prepared for it to be a flop.
"I don't really feel the pressure to create another record like 'Brat' because when I was making it, even though I really believed in it and totally knew what I wanted to do with it, I had no idea how it would be received," Charli explained. "I was really doing it for myself and marketing it in the way I wanted to for myself but I had no clue that people would kind of connect to it in the way that they did."
But don't worry, Charli enthusiasts - she's not about to give up on music just yet. In fact, she hinted that her next album will take a completely different direction. "You can never really do the same thing twice and my next record will probably be a flop which I'm down for to be honest," she said with a mischievous grin.
So what's next for Charli XCX? Only time (and her creative genius) will tell. One thing is for sure - this fearless artist isn't afraid to take risks and push boundaries, even if it means going against the grain of the music industry.
