Charisma Carpenter Out? Buffy Reboot Excludes Cordelia Chase So Far

As excitement builds around the new Buffy The Vampire reboot, one of the original stars of the show has revealed whether she will be in the new show; from left, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Charisma Carpenter

The Buffy Reboot is Coming, But What's the Tea on the Original Cast?

Get ready for a dose of Buffy-tastic drama! As the highly-anticipated reboot of the cult classic series nears its release date in 2026, we've got some juicy updates from the original cast. And trust us, it's about to get real.

Charisma Carpenter, the stunning actress who brought Cordelia Chase to life for two seasons back in the 1990s, has spilled the beans on whether she'll be reprising her role in the reboot. And let's just say, it's a resounding... nope!

Carpenter, 55, played Cordelia Chase on the fantasy show from 1997-1999

In an exclusive TikTok video (because we all know that's where the tea flows), Charisma clued us in: "I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don't even know if the show has been picked up to go to series. I assume it will be." Ouch, ouch, ouch! Looks like Cordy won't be joining the gang this time around.

But that's not all - Charisma went on to clarify that her new podcast, The B*h Is Back (we're dying over here!), wasn't a sneaky nod to her potential return. "It was not intended to sound decoded in any kind of way, à la Taylor Swift," she explained, throwing shade at the pop star's infamous album teasers. Nope, it's just a fun podcast title - no hidden meanings or secret reunions over here!

And if you thought that was all the drama we'd get from Charisma, think again! When asked by fans whether she'd spill the beans on any potential reboot news, she gave us a sly wink and said: "No, I would not tell you." Suspiciously coy, don't you agree?

In a TikTok video about whether she'll be in the updated Buffy, she replied, 'I am not in the reboot. I am not in the pilot. I don¿t even know if the show has been picked up to go to series. I assume it will be'

Meanwhile, Sarah Michelle Gellar is giving us major Buffy vibes. The actress, who's reprising her role as the iconic Slayer, shared an intense training session with new cast member Ryan Kiera Armstrong (the 15-year-old taking over as the Chosen One) on August 1. And let's just say it was no joke - they were lifting weights, doing planks on stability balls, and even practicing squats on BOSUs! "Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle ✨" Gellar captioned her video, because, you know, Buffy doesn't do ordinary workouts.

The Schlarly Note's readers are abuzz with excitement (and a few tears), as one fan raved: "THE slayer training with the new chosen one. I can't believe it's 2025 and we're getting this lead up! We did it guys." Another chimed in, pleading: "PLEASE GET ELIZA OUT OF RETIREMENT!" referring to Eliza Dushku's iconic character Faith.

It seems like fans are divided between their love for the original cast and the new blood - with some suggesting a reunion of the beloved trio of Buffy, Spike (James Marsters), and Faith would be absolute perfection. Another fan went as far as to request: "I really hope this continuation has Giles." Anthony Head's iconic character is still loved by fans worldwide, so fingers crossed he'll make a comeback!

In a separate video, responding to a fan's question about whether she would tell her fans if she were to sign on for the reboot, she answered, 'No, I would not tell you'

But alas, it seems like the producers are keeping their cards close to their chests (or should we say, in their Hellmouth?). For now, all we can do is wait patiently for the pilot episode to drop in 2026. And when it does? Let's just say it'll be a wild ride.

Stay tuned, Buffy babes!
