Chaos at Capitol Hill: Macklemore's Horror Home Invasion and Bear Spray Attack
MACKLEMORE'S NIGHTMARE! Thieves Bear Spray Nanny, Steal Jewelry and Cash from Rapper's $2.1 Million Mansion
In a shocking turn of events, a suspect has been arrested and a massive stash of stolen celebrity goods has been uncovered after Macklemore's opulent mansion was broken into by two masked burglars who left his nanny scarred and shaken.
The Seattle Police Department has taken 29-year-old Patrick Maisonet into custody after a two-month investigation into violent robberies in the Washington Area. Law enforcement has probable cause to believe that the seasoned thief is connected to high-profile home invasion robberies of the 41-year-old rapper, born Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, and several other athletes, including Seattle Seahawks legend Richard Sherman.
The arrest was made possible after a daring raid on a local pawn shop, where cops uncovered thousands of dollars' worth of stolen goods linked to those in the spotlight. The haul included jewelry, guns, stacks of cash, and even a custom Seattle Sounders MLS Cup ring and Seahawks Super Bowl ring, which are believed to have belonged to Macklemore.
But here's the juiciest part: the owner of the pawn shop had also been booked into King County Jail on suspicion of trafficking stolen property. It seems that Maisonet had an active arrest warrant after prosecutors alleged he cut off his ankle monitor earlier this year while serving home detention related to another home invasion robbery in 2023.
"Some of these items belong to some of those individuals, and possibly related to other athlete robberies," Detective Eric Munoz from the Seattle Police Department revealed to TheScholarlyNote.com. Maisonet has been identified as the "primary" suspect, but there's still one more culprit on the loose, and detectives are expected to refer charges to prosecutors soon.
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 7th, when Macklemore's nanny was home with his three children. She had put them to bed, and as she was about to leave for the night, she caught sight of two men using a patio door to gain entry into the Seattle home. The would-be thieves were armed with bear spray, which they used on the nanny, leaving her momentarily blinded.
But here's what happened next: one of the intruders looked "fearful" and began helping her wipe away the burning sensation in her eyes. This bizarre display of kindness didn't last long, as the other man demanded to know where the "jewels" were hidden. The nanny helped them find the valuables, but things took a dark turn when they forced her to the ground and stole her phone.
The nanny managed to bite one of the intruders and escape through a window, fleeing the property in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. She ran to a neighbor's house, pounding on their door and begging for help. The harrowing scene was captured on a doorbell camera obtained by TheScholarlyNote.com.
The nanny didn't stop there – she knocked on multiple neighbors' doors, eventually finding one who let her in. From there, she called 911, describing the intruders as wearing masks, gloves, and vests that looked "tactical in nature." She told authorities that she hadn't seen any guns in their possession.
The Seattle Police Department report states that the burglars made off with "thousands of dollars' worth of items." Video footage shows them leaving the property before police arrived on the scene. Although the authorities were unable to catch the thieves, they did find some clothing and a can of bear spray nearby.
Macklemore's children were left unharmed in the incident, but the nanny still had to deal with the trauma. She's reportedly shaken but unscathed after her ordeal.
The rapper has been married to his wife Tricia Davis since 2015 and they share two daughters, Sloane (10) and Collette (7), as well as a son called Hugo (3). Macklemore bought their Capitol Hill house for $2.1 million in 2014, which boasts three bedrooms, 2.25 bathrooms, and breathtaking views of the water.
As TheScholarlyNote.com learned, Macklemore was out of the country at the time of the break-in, as he played a concert in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday, June 8th. It's clear that this incident has left him shaken – but justice is finally being served.
