Channing Tatum and Daughter Everly Make a Rare Public Appearance Together!
SPLIT DECISION: Channing Tatum Opens Up About Painful Breakup with Jenna Dewan, Reveals His 12-Year-Old Daughter Everly is a Tough Crowd
In a rare public outing, Hollywood heartthrob Channing Tatum was spotted enjoying quality time with his 12-year-old daughter Everly in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The doting dad, who shares Everly with ex-wife Jenna Dewan, looked sharp in a navy blue suit as they attended the premiere of the anime film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle at the TCL Chinese Theater.
But what caught our attention was Channing's candid confession about his parenting struggles. Speaking to E News! at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, the 45-year-old actor revealed that his daughter has seen all of his films – and honestly, doesn't care. "She's like, 'Whatever, I don't wanna see those,'" he chuckled, shaking his head in amusement.
It seems Everly has developed a keen eye for good storytelling, but her dad's Hollywood credentials just aren't doing it for her. Channing joked that he's never going to be cool enough for his daughter, and we can't help but wonder if this is a hint at the challenges of parenting after a split.
The news comes on the heels of Channing's recent interview with Variety, where he opened up about the anguish he experienced during his six-year battle with Jenna Dewan. The couple, who met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and got engaged in 2008, parted ways in 2018 but only finalized their divorce in 2024.
In a shocking admission, Channing revealed that he and Jenna had tried to keep their relationship together for over a year and a half after they initially split, but ultimately realized it was time to move on. "We tried to keep it together, tried for a year and a half, but we knew it was... not to go into all that," he said with a hint of reluctance.
The painful breakup has clearly taken its toll on Channing, who revealed that parenting during this time has been particularly tough. "It's really tough not to have your daughter half the time. I wish I could just have her all the time," he confessed, highlighting the sacrifices that come with co-parenting after a split.
The couple's joint statement in 2018 had hinted at their amicable separation, but it seems that even now, Channing is still grappling with the emotional aftermath of their breakup. "Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young," he said wistfully.
Despite the challenges they've faced, both Channing and Jenna seem determined to prioritize their daughter's well-being. In a joint statement on April 2, 2018, they announced that they would be taking some space from each other, but made it clear that they will always be loving and dedicated parents to Everly.
As for Channing, he's been keeping busy promoting his various projects, including the Demon Slayer film where he lends his voice to the character Keizo. The actor's versatility is undeniable, but let's be real – even his impressive resume can't impress his tough-as-nails daughter, Everly.
We can't help but feel a little bad for Channing, who seems like a devoted dad despite his struggles with parenting after a split. Perhaps one day, Everly will come to appreciate her father's hard work in the entertainment industry – until then, he'll just have to keep on trying!
