Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas: Behind the Scenes of Their Low-Key UK Family Getaways
HOLLYWOOD'S ULTIMATE POWER COUPLE: CATHERINE ZETA-JONES AND MICHAEL DOUGLAS REVEAL THEIR FAMILY SECRETS
Get ready for a peek into the private lives of Hollywood's most iconic power couple, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas. In an exclusive interview with Radio Times, the stunning actress and her dashing husband have spilled the beans on their family's secret staycations, their adorable kids' plans to follow in their footsteps, and more!
For those who thought that being a household name meant rubbing shoulders only with A-listers, think again! Catherine and Michael have been married since 2000 and share two gorgeous children - Dylan, 24, and Carys, 21. But despite their whopping £250million ($360million) combined net worth, this stunning couple prefers to keep things low-key.
STAYCATIONS ON A BUDGET? YOU BET!
While many families would splurge on luxurious getaways, Catherine and Michael have taken a more down-to-earth approach. They've been known to take their kids on budget-friendly staycations to Butlin's and Legoland in the UK - yes, you read that right! Who needs five-star resorts when you can have a fun-filled day at these family favorites?
But it seems they're not just stopping there. Catherine revealed that her children have also enjoyed some incredible international adventures over the years, including trips to India, Patagonia, Africa, and Cambodia. "They've been to Butlin's, Legoland, seen the sights in London, up to Scotland, over to Ireland," she gushed. "And let me tell you, they even went to the Isle of Man - I think!"
A DAD'S LAMENT: MICHAEL DOUGLAS ON BEING A FATHER
Michael, 80, has been known for his dashing good looks and charming on-screen presence, but being a father has brought out a whole new side of him. "My wife would be throwing them up in the air and I'd be thinking, 'We have ceiling fans! They'll be decapitated!'" he joked with Catherine. Talk about dad humor!
CATHERINE'S BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT: BEING A MOTHER
But amidst all the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, Catherine has revealed that being a mother is one of her greatest achievements. "Having children is one of the most amazing joys of my life," she gushed to Radio Times. "All of a sudden, I saw doom and gloom everywhere. But I think that's just getting older and thinking 'Ooh, what if?'"
And it seems that motherhood has also given Catherine a newfound appreciation for her own parents' hard work. She told the magazine: "My mother brought up three kids. She had no help. My brother was judo, my other brother was swimming, I was dancing... Just taking us to all of that, as a parent you think, 'Oh my gosh,' whereas as a kid you're p**d off that she was five minutes late in picking you up that one time."
THE NEXT GENERATION OF HOLLYWOOD STARS
But what about Dylan and Carys' plans for the future? It seems they've got acting ambitions running through their veins! Catherine revealed: "Their love of the craft of acting is so strong that even when their brains are doing politics and history in school, their passion is acting. And they've never done anything professional, but they would like to go into acting."
Carys, 21, has already made her mark on the film industry with short films Shell and August, as well as F*ck That Guy, which was executive produced by none other than Spike Lee! And it seems she's got a future in directing too. Meanwhile, Dylan hosts Young American - 'Gen Z powered political talk show' - alongside his dad Michael.
A FAMILY LEGACY OF ACTING
It's clear that acting runs in the Douglas family bloodline. Michael's father, Kirk Douglas, was a legendary actor and producer who starred in classics like Spartacus and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. And with Catherine and Michael's kids following suit, it seems this iconic couple has done more than just pass on their genes - they've also passed on their passion for acting.
