Carnie Wilson's Intense Hospitalization: A Journey Through Lap Band Surgery and Beyond
CARNIE WILSON HOSPITALIZED AFTER "VERY SCARY" LAP-BAND REMOVAL SURGERY!
The 57-year-old singer, best known for her hit band Wilson Phillips, has been hospitalized twice in one month after complications from a lap-band removal surgery. And let's just say it was a close call!
In a video posted on Instagram on Thursday, Carnie revealed that she had undergone the surgery to address issues with her stomach, but things took a turn for the worse when doctors discovered an ulcer during the procedure.
"It was intense," she said, describing the ordeal. "My blood pressure went up dramatically, and I suffered from swollen legs. It was a very scary experience."
The ulcer, it turns out, is believed to be related to her ongoing battle with health issues - including the recent death of her father, Brian Wilson, of the Beach Boys, in June.
"I'm just so lucky to have gotten through this," Carnie said, thanking her doctors and fans who prayed for her. "It really put a new perspective on some health things for me... I'm on the mend!"
But what's behind these ongoing health issues? According to sources close to the singer, it's been a combination of stress, diet, and genetics that have contributed to her struggles.
Carnie has been open about her weight challenges over the years. She weighed over 300 pounds before undergoing gastric bypass surgery in 1999, which helped her lose 150 pounds. However, she gained back most of the weight after lap-band surgery in 2012.
In recent months, Carnie has been sharing updates on her Instagram account about her weight loss journey, revealing that she's lost an impressive 40 pounds by excluding certain foods from her diet.
"I feel really different," she shared with fans. "I need to start exercising more to make the scale start to move again, but I'm so proud and pumped."
But it seems that Carnie's health issues go beyond just weight loss. In a separate interview on CBS' The Talk, she discussed her recent surgery to remove botched implants, which had ruptured.
"I have to have a surgery," she said, visibly shaken. "I wasn't sure if I was going to share it, but I am sharing it... it's scary."
And what about her family? Carnie credits her mom for helping her get through this tough time.
"My mom said to me, 'Carnie, this is going to be a little hurdle, a little bump, and it'll all be in the past soon,'" she shared. "And that really stuck with me."
In related news, fans are rallying around Carnie on social media, sending her well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.
"It's amazing to see how strong and resilient you are, Carnie," one fan wrote. "You're an inspiration to us all!"
And as for Carnie? She's taking it one day at a time.
"I'm just grateful to be on the mend," she said. "And I know that with the support of my loved ones and fans, I'll get through this."
