Candace Cameron Bure's Candid Divorce Bombshell: Surviving a Marriage 'Rough Season'
CANDACE CAMERON BURE'S MARRIAGE NEARLY ENDED IN DIVORCE: FULL HOUSE STAR OPENS UP ABOUT ROUGH SEASON WITH HUSBAND
In a shocking revelation, beloved Full House star Candace Cameron Bure has revealed that her 30-year marriage to husband Valeri Bure almost ended in divorce. The 49-year-old actress opened up about the tumultuous period on her podcast, sharing intimate details of how her family nearly fell apart.
The bombshell admission comes after years of seeming marital bliss, with Candace and Valeri celebrating their wedding anniversary just last month. However, it appears that beneath the surface, the couple was facing a deepening rift. In an episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast, she candidly discussed the "really, really rough season" they endured in 2020.
"It was going south quickly," Candace confessed. "And we were like, 'I don't know, I don't think...we're gonna make it through.' We both had thoughts about splitting up until our kids stepped in."
The couple's three adult children - Natasha, Lev, and Maksim - played a crucial role in guiding their parents back on track. Candace recalled how their middle child, Lev, took the initiative to sit down with them and have an emotional talk.
"Lev came up to us and said, 'We'd like to talk to you guys,'" she shared. "He preached like a 45-minute sermon on marriage to us, like had his Bible open on the couch and just talked to us about it."
Candace praised her son's wisdom, stating that he reminded them of their family values and encouraged them to work through their issues.
"He was just such a calm voice that had so much wisdom behind it. And he looked us straight in the eye and individually asked me and asked Val, 'Have you done everything you can?' We walked away from that, and Val and I were like, 'We raised pretty good kids.' That was, like, the pivotal moment."
The actress credited her children for their support during the trying times. "I'm so grateful to Lev, and Maks and Natasha. They were so supportive of everything."
Candace's candid discussion on her podcast echoes a previous interview she gave to Yahoo! Lifestyle in March 2021, where she discussed how the COVID-19 pandemic affected her marriage.
"All the things that we have avoided for years talking about, they all surfaced and they were in our face," she admitted. "And it was unavoidable to actually have these discussions with one another and work through the real deal crap."
Despite the challenges, Candace and Valeri appear to have put their issues behind them, marking a milestone on June 22 as they celebrated their wedding anniversary.
"31 years ago, we went on our first official date at his practice rink in Fredericton, New Brunswick. @dcoulier introduced us at a charity hockey game in Los Angeles 4 months earlier," Candace wrote on Instagram. "30 years ago on June 20th, we got engaged in Paris. 29 years ago today, June 22nd, we got married. We grew a beautiful family. Happy anniversary to my love and best friend forever."
In an era where celebrity marriages often seem fleeting, Candace's openness about her own marital struggles serves as a refreshing reminder that even the most seemingly perfect unions can face challenges.
