Bullet-Infused Mail: SNL Star Bobby Moynihan's Terrifying Fan Encounter
BOMBSHELLS AND FOOT FETISH: Former SNL Star Bobby Moynihan Spills Tea on the Show's Wildest Fan Mail
In a shocking revelation, Saturday Night Live alum Bobby Moynihan is spilling the beans on the show's most bizarre fan mail. The comedian, known for his hilarious impressions and lovable characters, recently appeared on the Syd & Olivia Talk Sh*t podcast, where he dished out all the juicy details.
Moynihan, who left the iconic show after nine seasons in 2017, revealed that one particularly disturbing incident still sends shivers down his spine. During an episode of Weekend Update, he received an envelope filled with bullets – yes, you read that right – complete with a drawing of one of his characters, Riblet, firing a machine gun.
"It was like something out of a horror movie," Moynihan recalled, his voice trembling with unease. "I got this envelope at work, and inside, there were bullets. I mean, who does that? It was like they thought it was some kind of joke."
But the comedian didn't stop there. He also shared another bizarre encounter with fans, this time on Facebook. Moynihan explained that he received an onslaught of strange messages from admirers, all asking him to take pictures of his castmates' feet.
"It was always like, 'Hey love you on SNL, tell Keenan [Thompson] he's awesome and if you can take a picture of blank's feet,'" Moynihan mimicked the requests, chuckling awkwardly. "And I'm like, 'What?' People keep asking me to take pictures of people or... to take pictures of their feet.' It was always something about their feet."
But what's even more astonishing is that these requests were mostly aimed at female cast members. Moynihan couldn't help but joke that he has "Fred Flintstone feet" – big and old, just like his favorite cartoon character.
Moynihan thinks fans felt emboldened to ask for these strange favors because of his kind nature. "I think I'm a people pleaser," he confessed. "I want everyone to be happy, so I would try to accommodate their requests."
However, after a while, Moynihan realized that this wasn't worth his sanity. He decided to delete the Facebook app from his phone altogether, and hasn't checked it in over 20 years.
While these incidents might have been unsettling, they didn't happen often enough for Moynihan to lose sleep over them. But what's clear is that working on SNL comes with its own set of unique challenges – like dealing with the occasional deranged fan.
As for his future projects, Moynihan has been keeping busy. He'll be starring in an untitled comedy pilot alongside Tracy Morgan, which is being developed by Tina Fey and her team. The show promises to bring a fresh wave of laughter to the small screen, but it's hard not to wonder if these two seasoned comedians will encounter any more... unusual fan mail.
For now, fans can catch Moynihan reuniting with his former castmates on upcoming episodes of SNL – just don't ask him to take your picture.
