Brooklyn Beckham & Nicola Peltz's $16M Mansion Makeover: A Pricey Tear-Out!
SHOCKING REVEAL: Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's $16 Million Beverly Hills Mansion Get a Major Overhaul - But Why?
In a jaw-dropping move that has left insiders stunned, super-couple Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz have reportedly gutted their luxurious six-bedroom, seven-bathroom Beverly Hills mansion just weeks after moving in. The whopping $16 million property, complete with custom Italian interiors designed by renowned architect Vincent Van Duysen, has been stripped of its high-end finishes at a staggering cost of at least $1 million.
TheScholarlyNote.com can exclusively reveal that the couple, who recently purchased their first home together in December, have ripped out parts of the lavish pad, including some of the custom-designed kitchen and bathroom features. The shocking news has left fans wondering why the A-listers would want to undo the stunning design work done by Van Duysen, a Belgian-born architect known for his high-end projects with celebrities like Julianne Moore and Kim Kardashian.
According to sources close to the couple, Brooklyn and Nicola were unimpressed with some of the custom finishes in their new home. TheScholarlyNote.com has obtained permits filed with the City of Beverly Hills that reveal the couple ditched all the kitchen counters and four out of six bathroom vanities, replacing them with more modest alternatives.
But why would the "nepo-baby" couple, who are known for their love of luxury and high-end design, want to strip away such opulent features? Some insiders believe it may be due to superstition - lava stone countertops, which were a key feature in the original design, are believed by some to bring bad luck.
"It's possible that Brooklyn and Nicola have heard whispers about the supposed curse associated with lava stone," said Jessica Lauren, a construction contractor. "Some buyers feel it's very bad luck to have lava anywhere in the home. It's not uncommon for clients to ask that lava stone be removed from fireplaces or other areas of the home as part of a sales contract."
TheScholarlyNote.com has learned that the renovations done by Van Duysen, which included installing high-end materials like matte black lacquer cabinetry and bronze finishes, added an estimated $500,000 to $1 million to the property's value. The total cost of the project is believed to have been between $2.5 million and $4 million.
Despite the significant investment, it appears that Brooklyn and Nicola were not satisfied with the final product. "It's hard to understand why they would want to undo so much of the design work," said Jeff Akerman, a New York architect and construction expert. "The custom finishes in this home are top-tier, and it's likely that they will decrease the property's value if they're not replaced with similar materials."
Akerman estimates that installing new countertops and replacing the original fire pit would cost at least $1 million, while removing the existing features would add an additional $510,000 to the total cost.
As theScholarlyNote.com previously reported, Brooklyn and Nicola purchased their first home together in December for a whopping $16 million. The couple's decision to gut their new mansion has left fans wondering what's next for the celebrity pair.
