Brendan Fraser Reunites with Mummy Castmates: A Trip Down Memory Lane

More than 26 years after The Mummy hit theaters, Brendan Fraser reunited with three of his castmates.

The Mummy Reunion: Brendan Fraser and Co-Stars Unite for a Thrill Ride!

It's been over two decades since The Mummy sent shockwaves through Hollywood, but it seems like some old habits die hard. Or should we say, some ancient curses never truly dissipate? In any case, the original cast of the 1999 blockbuster has reunited, and it's got everyone talking!

At the 2025 Fan Expo Denver, Brendan Fraser (Rick O'Connell) stepped out in style alongside his co-stars Patricia Velasquez (Anck Su Namun), John Hannah (Jonathan), and Arnold Vosloo (Imhotep). No Rachel Weisz (Evelyn Carnahan) in sight, but we're not complaining – these four are the real treasure!

The 1999 classic was a remake of the original Universal Pictures 1932 classic starring Boris Karloff, which was a box office smash

Fraser, looking dashing in a black t-shirt under a dark green dress shirt and tan baseball cap, was joined by Velasquez in a stunning dark green dress, Vosloo in a light blue dress shirt, white t-shirt under a grey suit coat and grey pants, and Hannah rocking a grey t-shirt under a brown jacket and light blue jeans. Talk about a blast from the past!

For those who may have missed the original trilogy (1999's The Mummy, 2001's The Mummy Returns, and 2008's The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor), let us refresh your memory: it was all about treasure hunter Rick O'Connell, librarian Evelyn Carnahan, and her brother Jonathan as they embarked on a thrilling adventure to awaken the ancient mummy Imhotep. Who knew that nearly three decades later, these characters would still be conjuring up excitement?

The Mummy remake, which grossed an impressive $418 million worldwide from an $80 million budget, was a massive hit in its time. And while we're on the subject of hits, did you know that Brendan Fraser's trilogy was supposed to cross over with Tom Cruise's 2017 reboot (starring Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, and Russell Crowe)? Well, it seems like even Fraser himself wasn't privy to those plans – "I really don’t know," he confessed. "I know Tom Cruise tried to make his movie and it ain’t easy! We all know how hard this movie is to make."

While Weisz wasn't present, Fraser was photographed with co-stars Patricia Velasquez (Anck Su Namun), John Hannah (Jonathan) and Arnold Vosloo (Imhotep) on Sunday.

But what about the possibility of crossovers? Fraser hinted that it was a matter of giving the people what they truly want, adding, "The answer is you’ve just got to give everybody what they really, really want. If you stray from that path…" It seems like even he acknowledges the difficulty in pulling off such a feat.

In a separate interview in 2022, Fraser shared his thoughts on Cruise's film: "The Mummy should be a thrill ride, but not terrifying and scary. I know how difficult it is to pull it off. I tried to do it three times." It seems like some things never truly change – the quest for thrills and spills that keep audiences coming back for more!

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in The Mummy

The Mummy remake was set in the year 1932, following treasure hunter Rick O'Connell (Fraser) as he takes librarian Evelyn Carnahan (Weisz) and her older brother Jonathan (Hannah) to Hamunaptra, City of the Dead, where they awaken the ancient mummy Imhotep (Vosloo)

Fraser was asked if his trilogy was supposed to cross over with Cruise's franchise at some point, though he didn't know.
