Brad Pitt's Candid AA Confessions Post-Divorce and a Hint at Jennifer Aniston
Brad Pitt Spills the Beans: From Rock Bottom to Redemption
The eternal bachelor, Brad Pitt, has finally opened up about his tumultuous journey through the infamous Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) program following his messy divorce from Angelina Jolie. In a candid interview with Dax Shepard on Monday's episode of Armchair Expert, the 61-year-old Hollywood hunk revealed that he hit rock bottom after his second marriage imploded.
Pitt confessed to feeling like he was "pretty much on [his] knees" and admitted that he needed to "wake the f**k up in some areas." The comment is eerily reminiscent of his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston's infamous analogy about him having a "sensitivity chip missing."
But let's get back to Pitt's AA confession. The actor, who has been vocal about his struggles with addiction and sobriety, revealed that he was initially nervous about sharing his experiences in the program. However, he was inspired by the sense of community and openness among the members.
"It gives you permission to go, 'OK, I’m gonna step out on this edge and see what happens,'" Pitt explained, adding that it allowed him to "grow" and find a sense of freedom.
Shepard, who has been open about his own struggles with addiction and sobriety, praised Pitt for being honest about his journey. The 50-year-old actor-turned-podcaster shared his own story of relapsing in 2020 after 16 years of sobriety, and Pitt commended him for always being "so f**king honest."
Pitt also revealed that he was raised around men who never complained or showed vulnerability. He noted that it took him a while to learn how to be open about his emotions and struggles.
The actor's decision to join AA came after he realized that he had been taking things as far as they could go before revoking his "drinking privileges." In an interview with the New York Times in 2019, Pitt explained that he found great value in the program, saying it was a "safe space" where there was little judgment.
But what about his vices? Pitt admitted to struggling with marijuana use during the height of his Hollywood success in the '90s. He confessed that he became a hermit and turned to pot as a way to cope.
However, it was Bradley Cooper who helped him get sober. The two actors have been close friends for years, and Pitt credits Cooper with helping him stay on the straight and narrow.
Pitt's journey to sobriety wasn't without its bumps, however. He and Angelina Jolie had an ugly divorce battle that finally ended in December 2024 after she filed in 2016. The exes have been at odds ever since Brad sued Angelina in 2022 for selling her stake in their Chateau Miraval estate.
Despite the drama, Pitt seems to be thriving. He is currently dating jewelry executive Ines de Ramon and resides with her in Los Angeles.
As the saying goes, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade." It seems that Brad Pitt has taken this philosophy to heart and is using his experiences to help others. We can't wait to see what's next for this Hollywood hunk!
