Blake Lively's Feud with Taylor Swift Heats Up: Actress Seeks Protective Order Amid $400M Defamation Suit

The drama between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift is reaching a boiling point! The 37-year-old Gossip Girl star is now targeting her former friend, asking the judge overseeing her case to shield her communications with Swift from Justin Baldoni's lawyers. This latest development comes as Lively's $400M defamation lawsuit against the Jane the Virgin star and his team continues to drag on.

According to documents obtained by TheScholarlyNote.com, Lively's attorneys accused Baldoni of playing dirty by trying to bring Swift into the fray. They claim that Baldoni's team has been "refusing" to produce certain documents related to their deal with Swift's camp, which would have withdrawn a subpoena for her private communications.

Lively's attorneys accused Baldoni of having 'refused to produce to Ms. Lively the documents they publicly claimed to have received as part of a deal to withdraw their subpoenas to Ms. Swift and her counsel'; Swift is pictured in February in LA

But here's the juicy part: it seems like Baldoni and his team were using Swift as a PR tactic all along! Lively's lawyers pointed out that in August 2024, crisis PR firm Wayfarer (led by Melissa Nathan) included Swift in their "Scenario Planning" document, flagging her massive fan base as something to take "extremely seriously." This move was seen as an attempt to use the pop star's popularity to distract from the fact that Baldoni's lawsuits against Lively and others have been entirely dismissed.

This latest development comes after social media accounts claiming to be pro-Baldoni spread rumors that Swift had deleted Instagram posts featuring Lively. However, Swifties quickly shut down this discussion by pointing out that the posts were actually deleted years ago as part of an album promotion stunt for her 2017 Reputation album.

Lively's attorneys also accused Baldoni's team of trying to "drag" Swift into the lawsuit, despite having already subpoenaed and then withdrawn their request for her private communications. They claimed that this move was a tactic to use Swift's massive fan base as leverage in the case.

But what's really going on here? Lively's camp is hinting that Baldoni's team may have been using Swift's reputation to try and discredit Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. This is after they were subjected to a defamation lawsuit from Baldoni, which was eventually dismissed by the courts.

The situation took an interesting turn when Lively served a subpoena to Scooter Braun, who has had his own public feud with Taylor Swift over ownership of her master recordings. Braun's K-Pop corporation HYBE was also subpoenaed as part of Lively's investigation into crisis PR manager Melissa Nathan and her work for Baldoni.

So what does this all mean? It seems like the drama between Lively and Swift is far from over, and their respective teams are getting more entrenched in this feud by the day. Stay tuned for more updates on this juicy celebrity scandal!

Baldoni had also been suing Lively's husband Ryan Reynolds (pictured with her in April in NYC), as well as her publicist and the New York Times. He still has the option to refile four of his seven original claims

As a side note, Taylor Swift recently revealed that she had rerecorded her self-titled debut album, but admitted to slow-rolling the process of rerecording her 2017 album Reputation. She shared that it was "so specific to that time in my life" and that she thought it couldn't be improved upon.

Lively's attorney Esra Hudson defended the request for the protective order by saying it had been a 'tactic' of Baldoni to 'make Ms. Swift and her fan base central to their media strategy against Ms. Lively'

Blake and Taylor have frequently appeared in each other’s social media posts, as seen above

But Swifties noted in the comments that Taylor had wiped her Instagram and other social media accounts in August 2017 ¿ after the photos were posted ¿ as a PR stunt to announce the release of her Reputation album (pictured)
