EXCLUSIVE: Jeff Bezos' Lavish Wedding Plans Ditched After Protests Rock Venice!

Get ready for the most epic wedding of the century! Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his bride-to-be, Lauren Sanchez, were all set to tie the knot in a grand celebration that would have shut down the entire city of Venice. But, following intense protests and outrage over Bezos' jaw-dropping wealth, the couple has decided to ditch their original plan and keep their nuptials private.

The drama began when the majestic $500 million yacht, Koru, arrived off the coast of Croatia, ready to host the festivities. The 413-foot vessel is a symbol of Bezos' incredible wealth – he's worth a staggering $224 billion! But, Venice had other plans. Protesters from Greenpeace and Everyone Hates Elon took to the streets, unfurling giant banners that read: "If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax." Ouch!

The message was clear: Jeff Bezos is the second-richest man in the world yet pays a paltry 1.1% true tax rate. The multi-million-dollar wedding was expected to bring in a whopping €20-30 million ($23-34 million) to local businesses, but protesters were having none of it.

As tensions mounted, Bezos and Sanchez decided to keep their wedding private – and intimate. Instead of mooring the Koru in Venice's lagoon, they'll now helicopter into the city with their family. The bride-to-be, a qualified helicopter pilot and enthusiast, will take the reins for this aerial adventure!

But, there's a catch! With few helipads in the city, the couple might need to get creative – or rent one themselves! And let's not forget the wedding venue: San Giorgio Maggiore, a stunning island complex owned by the Cini Foundation. It has hosted G7 leaders twice before, so it's safe to say this will be an exclusive affair!

Sources close to the couple reveal that less than 200 guests have been invited – a far cry from the grand spectacle originally planned. Close friends and family, including Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenburg, Brian Grazer, and more, will join Bezos and Sanchez for this private celebration.

So, what's next? A pre-wedding event on Thursday and a post-wedding party on Saturday – but plans are still being finalized. Locals believe that the organizers might need to rethink their schedules entirely!

As the world waits with bated breath, one thing is certain: Jeff Bezos' wedding will be remembered for years to come. And who knows? Maybe this private affair will be the start of a new trend – after all, as Venice Mayor Luigi Brugnaro and Regional Governor Luca Zaia pointed out, "George Clooney, François-Henri Pinault, and Salma Hayek got married here."
