Beyoncé Honors Sir Paul McCartney with Iconic Tribute at London Shows
BEYONCÉ'S SIR PAUL McCARTNEY SHOUT-OUT: QUEEN BEARER WEARS STELLA McCARTNEY OUTFIT WHILE PERFORMING BLACKBIRD IN LONDON
It's a British invasion of epic proportions! Beyoncé, the Queen B herself, paid homage to the iconic Sir Paul McCartney in London this month. The 43-year-old pop sensation donned an outfit designed by McCartney's daughter, Stella, while performing his hit song "Blackbird" at her record-breaking shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Beyoncé's nod to the Beatles legend came in the form of a T-shirt featuring two blackbirds, a tribute to The Beatles' 1968 song that she recorded a cover of last year. But it wasn't just a stylish gesture – Beyoncé also shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking McCartney for writing one of the greatest songs ever made.
"Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made," she wrote. "Every time I sing it, I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter's design."
But that wasn't the only reason Beyoncé was feeling grateful. Her performance of "Blackbird" at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium marked a major milestone – she now holds the record for the most concerts performed by any artist at the venue, with over 275,000 fans attending her six sold-out shows.
And if that wasn't enough, Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour has also broken records left and right. Her shows have grossed over £45 million (over $61 million USD), making it the highest-grossing concerts for any artist at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But amidst all the excitement, there was a hint of diva drama in the air. According to The Scholarly Note, Beyoncé allegedly "packed up her £25k-a-night London penthouse" to make way for none other than Mariah Carey, who touched down in London over the weekend to perform at Capital's Summertime Ball.
A source close to the situation told The Scholarly Note: "Superstars as big as Beyoncé and Mariah want to stay in only the best hotels. Beyoncé had been staying in Corinthia's penthouses. But when Mariah flew in, Beyoncé packed up so Mariah could take over her suites. It was like Beyoncé was bowing down to another music queen."
And speaking of queens, Beyoncé made a rare public statement about her son Sir Carter while bringing the house down at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday.
In fan footage uploaded on X, the pop diva wished little Sir and his fraternal twin sister Rumi Carter a happy eighth birthday while onstage. "Everybody say happy birthday, Rumi!" Beyoncé commanded her devoted Beyhive. At that, Knowles-Carter's 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter affectionately touched her little sister on the chin during the three-hour concert featuring over 35 songs.
"Say happy birthday, Sir!" the 35-time Grammy winner added as Rumi embraced her. "Mommy loves you."
Blue Ivy serves back-up dancer duties on tour while Rumi has been making an appearance onstage each night of Beyoncé's tour beginning at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on April 28.
It's clear that Beyoncé is the queen of London – and the world – right now. But will she be able to top her record-breaking shows? Only time (and The Scholarly Note) will tell!
