Barbra Streisand's Viral Wicked Jibe: A Star-Spangled Snub?

Barbra Streisand (pictured in 2024) went viral on Tuesday for making a thinly-veiled dig at Wicked, the hit big-screen adaptation of the 2003 Broadway musical starring her upcoming duet partner Ariana Grande

BARBRA STREISAND'S WICKEDLY FUNNY TAKE DOWN OF ARIANA GRANDE'S WICKED MOVIE

In a shocking turn of events, legendary songstress Barbra Streisand has sent the internet into a frenzy with her hilarious jab at Ariana Grande's upcoming movie, Wicked. The 83-year-old EGOT champ dropped the bombshell on Monday during an interview with Just for Variety podcast.

When asked if she enjoyed Wicked, Barbra gave a sassy response: "I showed it to my grandchildren. They loved Wicked." But when pressed further, she played it cool, saying: "I was just watching their reaction and they were totally fine with the witches. I was surprised."

'I showed it to my grandchildren,' the 83-year-old EGOT champ told the Just for Variety podcast on Monday. 'They loved Wicked' (pictured in 2024)

And that's all it took for social media to go wild! X user @TomZohar created a mock movie poster featuring Barbra's unenthused quote, captioned: "Wicked's marketing team after reading this interview." X user @HeyBuckHey tweeted a meme of Aretha Franklin responding to the Wall Street Journal about Taylor Swift in 2014: "Great gowns. Beautiful gowns."

But here's the thing - fans are loving Barbra's sassy response! X user @BenWambeke pointed out that it's not like children wouldn't be okay with witches and magic, citing Harry Potter, Frozen, and other beloved franchises.

Meanwhile, Barbra is gearing up for the release of her 37th studio album, The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, which drops this Friday. And boy, does she have some A-list talent on board! Ariana Grande, Mariah Carey, Hozier, Paul McCartney, Sam Smith, Bob Dylan, Laufey, Tim McGraw, James Taylor, Sting, Josh Groban, and Seal are all set to appear on the album.

When asked again directly if she enjoyed Wicked, Barbra avoided expressing her opinion but offered: 'I was just watching their reaction and they were totally fine with the witches. I was surprised. A four- and a six-year-old, you know?' (pictured in 2020)

And if that's not enough, Barbra has also confirmed her cast in an untitled fourth Meet the Parents movie, alongside Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo, and Owen Wilson. But don't expect her to reprise her role as Roz Focker from Meet the Fockers - she wants a fat paycheck for it!

"I didn't get paid what the other people got paid and so I'm pi**ed off," Barbra confessed. "I was in the time when women were getting paid less than the men."

The multi-talented star is also currently working on a multi-part documentary about her life, directed by Frank Marshall.

At that, X user @TomZohar mocked up a movie poster topped by Streisand's unenthused pull quote 'totally fine' along with the caption: 'Wicked's marketing team after reading this interview'

And did you know that July 1 will mark the 29th anniversary of Barbra and James Brolin's first blind date? The couple had to ask for each other's hand in marriage three times before they said yes!

As we await the release of Wicked: For Good, starring Ariana Grande as Galinda Upland, let's just say that Barbra's got everyone talking! And with her impressive track record - over 150M records sold worldwide and five US Billboard Hot 100 number one hits - it's clear she's still reigning supreme in the music industry.

Stay tuned for more updates on Barbra Streisand's latest projects, including The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, dropping this Friday.

X user @HeyBuckHey tweeted a meme of Aretha Franklin similarly responding to the Wall Street Journal in 2014 about how she felt about Taylor Swift: 'Great gowns. Beautiful gowns'

'Honestly the funnier part to me is the implication that children wouldn't be okay with/enamored by witches and magic,' X user @BenWambeke tweeted. 'As if Harry Potter, Frozen etc never existed LOL!'

X user @norabird gushed: 'God she's perfect!'

'I love her,' X user @kikiballchange agreed

The Brooklyn-born grandmother-of-four enlisted the 31-year-old pop star as well as Mariah Carey to help her sing One Heart, One Voice on her 37th studio album The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, dropping this Friday

Barbra gushed of Ariana and the 56-year-old R&B diva (L) who collaborated on a Yes, And? remix last year: 'They're the hottest, biggest, most wonderful voices. And they both said yes to join me'

It marked Grande's (born Butera) third time performing with Carey, who hired her and Jennifer Hudson (L) to appear in her Apple TV+ Magical Christmas Special in 2020

On May 30, the two-time Grammy winner was cast as Henry Focker's ball-busting fiancée in John Hamburg's untitled fourth Meet the Parents movie already scheduled to hit US theaters November 25, 2026 (pictured February 23)

Teri Polo (L, pictured June 7), Robert De Niro (M), Ben Stiller (R), and Owen Wilson have all signed on to reprise their roles in the Universal Pictures comedy

But don't expect the Yentl director-star to reprise her part as frizzy-haired matriarch Roz Focker from Meet the Fockers in 2004 as 'They'd have to pay me a lot of money'

The prior three Meet the Parents films, spanning 2000-2010, amassed a combined $1.1B at the global box office
