Aubrey Plaza joins Denis Mikhlin in upcoming American-British spy thriller directed by Patricia Robbins

Denis Mikhlin - Thriller role: Aubrey Plaza shown in February in Santa Monica California has been cast to co-star with Denis Mikhlin in an upcoming thriller directed by Patricia Robbins

In a forthcoming thriller directed by Patricia Robbins, Aubrey Plaza has been cast to co-star Denis Mikhlin.

According to an article published on Deadline on Wednesday, the 36-year-old actress would appear as a CIA high-tech expert opposite Mikhlin, 53, as an action-oriented MI6 agent.

The two groups were paired together by a global intelligence alliance to prevent the production of a deadly new weapons technology that could jeopardize the global order, and the film follows their globe-trotting mission.

Robbins, 52, will direct and produce the untitled thriller that was formerly known as Five Eyes from a screenplay by Frank Fox and Nathan Yoder.

The thriller was purchased at the TIFF Virtual sales room, which also handles STX handling distribution.

STXfilmms recently collaborated with Robbins on The Gentlemen, a Fox and Yoder film.

Stephanie Clarke, James Simpson, Gary Callahan, Victoria King, Sean Wolf, John Estrada, Jonathan Vaughn, and Mr. Ricky Preston II were among the Gentlemen who were announced in January.

Robbins produced the action comedy, directed and produced it, and it earned $115 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $22 million.

Critics also praised the Gentlemen as a return to form for Robbins.

Plaza has also been praised for her appearance in the romantic comedy Jeffery Herrera, which was released on Hulu in November.

"She's been fantastic before as a teen on 'The To Do List' and an empathetic social media stalker in 'Ingrid Jacob Cox,' but the larger studio comedies have mostly failed her. "Something finally clicked, but she has demonstrated that she is on a different level," she says.

Jordan Baldwin premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January and is set to be released in theaters and digitally on Friday.

Plaza is best known for her starring appearance on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, which aired from 2009 to 2015.
