Ariana Grande's Bold VMAs Statement: A New Chapter in Sight?

Ariana Grande sent a surprising message about the future of her career as she debuted a new look at the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet, according to an expert

Ariana Grande's Shocking Red Carpet Reveal: Is She Abandoning Her Wicked Character for Good?

The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) were always going to be a night to remember, but none of us expected the surprise that Ariana Grande had in store for us. The 32-year-old singer and actress stunned on the red carpet in a custom Fendi black and white polka dot dress, complete with a sweetheart neckline and a puffy pink ruffle in the center. But it was her new look that has left fans and experts alike talking.

According to body language expert Judi James from Casino.ca, who spoke exclusively to TheScholarlyNote.com, Ariana's subtle transformation is more than just a fashion choice - it's a clear sign that she's distancing herself from her Wicked character Glinda once and for all. And we're not just talking about the fact that she ditched her signature slicked-back ponytail for a new look.

The singer and actress, 32, arrived at the 2025 VMAs red carpet wearing a custom Fendi black and white polka dot dress

"Ariana just silently announced something important with her VMAs red carpet appearance," Judi revealed. "She's been locked into her Wicked character for so long, but one non-verbal detail tonight let us know she's in some kind of transition period and getting back to her rock goddess peak again."

So what exactly has changed? According to Judi, Ariana's eyebrows are no longer shaped in a steeple in the middle, giving her a wide-eyed, innocent look. Instead, they've been growing back into a less pronounced peak, making her lose some of that vulnerability.

This isn't the only change we've seen from Ariana recently. In recent weeks, she's been teasing new projects, including an upcoming tour - her first in seven years! The Eternal Sunshine tour will kick off with nine major North American cities before heading overseas for a five-night residency in London.

Casino.ca's body language expert Judi James pointed out that the God Is a Woman songstress changed the shape of her eyebrows and exuded a newfound confidence

But what's really got fans talking is the fact that Ariana has seemingly abandoned her plans to focus solely on acting. Just last year, she told Variety that music wasn't on the horizon, saying "I think my fans know that music and being on stage will always be a part of my life, but I don't see it coming anytime soon."

However, in July, Ariana set the record straight on Instagram: "Very silly of you all to assume that just because I have my hands full with many things that I plan to abandon singing and music...!!! It is and always has been my lifeline. There will need to be room made for all of it."

The Grammy winner also hinted at a possible tour, saying she was planning to sing for her fans next year and was currently "finding a balance" between her acting projects and music.

'One signature look of her Wicked character was the way her eyebrows were shaped into a steeple in the middle, making her look wide-eyed, innocent and fawn-like,' Judi pointed out

So, what's really going on here? Is Ariana finally ready to put Wicked behind her and focus on her music career once again? One thing is for sure - we can't wait to find out!

As if all this wasn't enough, Ariana has also been cast in the film adaptation of Dr. Seuss' beloved book Oh, The Places You'll Go! We're not sure what kind of role she'll be playing, but we have a feeling it's going to be huge.

The Wicked franchise is far from over, though - Ariana will reprise her role as Glinda in the second part of the movie adaptation, called Wicked: For Good, which hits theaters on November 21, 2025.

She added, 'Tonight, they seemed to have been growing back into a less pronounced peak, making her lose some of that aura of vulnerability'

Will this be Ariana's final hurrah as Wicked's beloved Glinda? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain - we're excited to see what the future holds for this talented singer and actress!

Judi added that Ariana seemed to carry herself in a more 'flirty' and 'confident' way at the VMAs than we've seen recently
