Anne Hathaway's Jaw-Dropping Confessions: From Pop Star Faux Pas to Her Unlikely Best Friend

Get ready for a dose of honesty and humor as Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway spills her guts in the latest issue of Vogue! The 42-year-old New Yorker has been making waves with her new movie, Mother Mary, where she takes on the role of a pop star à la Taylor Swift. But what's truly remarkable is how far out of her comfort zone Hathaway went to get into character.

"I had to submit to being a beginner," Hathaway confesses in the candid interview. "I had to show up every day knowing I was going to suck... And it has to be okay. You're not 'bad.' You're just a beginner." Talk about vulnerability! But, as she reveals, this mindset-shifting experience wasn't without its challenges.

Also in the interview, it is revealed who her celebrity best friend is, and it's a man

"I didn't have all the music finalized before we started filming," Hathaway shares. "It was so confusing. I had to learn... But I'm very grateful I couldn't take control." Who knew not having a script could be a blessing in disguise? She worked with hit-making producer Jack Antonoff and pop icon Charli XCX, but it wasn't all smooth sailing.

"I finally learned how to breathe," Hathaway reveals. "My body was so locked up—I literally couldn't take a deep breath... I'd been trying to open that space for years and I thought it was physically impossible. All my breath, it was stuck." It's clear Hathaway is no stranger to transformational experiences!

But what really sets tongues wagging is her admission of not being the best singer at first. "I had to shed some things that were hard to shed," she says. "It was welcome... But it was hard, the way transformational experiences can be hard." Who knew Hathaway had a secret singing struggle?

As far as her celebrity best friend, it's Bradley Cooper. They became pals in NYC in 2019. The Oscar-winner talked to Vogue about what makes Anne special. 'You see how she treats everyone¿and it¿s everyone¿she¿s so kind,' said Cooper; seen in June

Now, onto the juicy stuff! When asked about her celebrity best friend, many would assume it's a woman. Nope! Anne Hathaway reveals that her BFF is none other than Bradley Cooper, with whom she bonded in NYC in 2019.

"What makes Anne special?" Cooper gushes to Vogue. "You see how she treats everyone—and it's everyone—she's so kind... We started hanging out as parents, having dance parties with children in my kitchen, and I fell in love with both of them." Them being Hathaway and her husband Adam Shulman! The Oscar-winner opens up about what makes their friendship so special.

"'You've met Anne: She's very present and grounded, I'll put it that way. And kind. She's viciously intelligent,'" Cooper shares. "We started hanging out as parents, having dance parties with children in my kitchen, and I fell in love with both of them." Who knew Hathaway was the ultimate dance party host?

The star worked with hit-making music producer Jack Antonoff as well as pop icon Charli XCX. 'I finally learned how to breathe,' said Hathaway. 'My body was so locked up¿I literally couldn¿t take a deep breath'

When not busy slaying the red carpet or dominating the big screen, Anne loves to keep it real – literally! She's a regular person who insists on staying home with her family. "I love 'hanging out' with my kids—Uno games, baking when there's time, teaching the kids to dribble a basketball in the apartment without upsetting the neighbors...,'" she says.

And if you thought Hathaway was all about glamour and glitz, think again! She reveals that she's grateful for her husband Adam being an early riser and great cook. "I am so, so grateful [my] husband is a great cook and an early riser," she tells Vogue. Who knew cooking was the key to her happy marriage?
