In a shocking turn of events, Suzanne Somers' widower, Alan Hamel, has confirmed that he's been secretly dating his former co-star, Joanna Cassidy. This news comes less than two years after the passing of his beloved wife, Suzanne, who tragically succumbed to cancer on October 15, 2023, at the age of 76.

According to sources close to the couple, Alan and Joanna were spotted arm-in-arm in Malibu last Monday, sparking rumors about their budding romance. When questioned by Page Six about the nature of his relationship with Cassidy, Alan hinted that things might be getting serious between them, but he refused to give away too much.

"I don't know where this relationship is going," Alan coyly revealed, adding that he's known Joanna for over four decades. "We go way back." It turns out that their paths first crossed in the 1970s when Joanna was a guest star on Alan's daytime talk show, The Alan Hamel Show, which aired in Canada.

"I remember she was a great guest and it was a dynamic show," Alan reminisced. "We liked each other, not romantically at the time, but with respect. We were both married then." It seems that their friendship has been rekindled, possibly thanks to Alan's son, Stephen Hamel, who introduced them recently.

"My son met Joanna at a screening and after a long conversation suggested that we should meet," Alan explained. "He didn't know that we already knew each other." Their families must have thought they were quite the item back in the day!

It appears that Suzanne Somers had been encouraging Alan to move on with his life even as she was battling cancer. In her final days, she allegedly told him not to mope around and to "Live your life. We will see one another after you cross over." How poignant!

Now, it seems that Alan is indeed living his best life with the lovely Joanna by his side. And what a catch! He couldn't be more smitten with his new partner, gushing about her incredible accomplishments in Hollywood. "She's extremely accomplished," he praised. "Easily the hardest-working and most active actress in Hollywood for well over 50 years."

But that's not all - Alan is also impressed by Joanna's dedication to her family and philanthropy. "She's a great mother to her adult children, turns up for many fundraisers for first responders, and is staff for her four cats," he raved. Sounds like she's got it all!

It seems that Alan has finally found someone who can appreciate him for who he is - his business savvy and charisma aside, of course! "Most men would love to have a Joanna in their life," he joked, making us wonder what other secrets this romance might hold.

As The Scholarly Note previously reported last October on the one-year anniversary of Suzanne's passing, Alan was still reeling from her loss. "Missing Suzanne is probably not a powerful enough word because for the past 55 years we didn't even spend one hour apart," he confessed. "It's heartbreaking."
