Age Is Just a Number: Fonda, Mirren, and Anderson Shine on Paris Catwalk
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER: JANE FONDA, HELEN MIRREN, AND GILLIAN ANDERSON SHINE ON THE L'ORÉAL CATWALK
The fashion world was abuzz on Monday night as three of Hollywood's most iconic actresses - Jane Fonda, Helen Mirren, and Gillian Anderson - strutted their stuff down the catwalk for L'Oréal Paris at Paris Fashion Week. The show, aptly titled "Liberty. Equality. Sisterhood. Because You're Worth It," was a celebration of female empowerment and the beauty that comes with age.
Jane Fonda, looking absolutely stunning in a full-length silver dress and matching shimmering shoes, proved that 87 is just a number. The actress, known for her commitment to social justice causes, showed no signs of slowing down as she worked the catwalk with confidence and poise.
Helen Mirren, who turned 80 in July, rocked a sparkling silver long-sleeve top and black gloves, completing the ensemble with smart dark trousers. But Helen isn't just an age-defying supermodel - she's also got a sharp tongue and a strong opinion on society's attitude towards aging. In a recent interview, she blasted younger people for their condescending behavior towards her generation.
"I hate it when people talk down to me," Helen told The Times. "They say things like 'Oh, look, how sweet' when I'm holding hands with my husband Taylor Hackford. It's like, excuse my language, 'F**k off.' There's something very condescending about some people's attitudes and I think they think they are being kind and generous. But they're not. They're being insulting."
Helen also revealed that her mother had wise words of advice for her when she was younger: "Never be afraid of getting older. An amazing thing happens. When you're 18 the thought of being 35 is horrific. And you get to 35 and it's actually a lot better than being 18.''
And Helen can attest to that - she's currently starring in The Thursday Murder Club, a movie about a group of "geriatric sleuths" who solve murders from their retirement home. She's joined by Pierce Brosnan, Sir Ben Kinsley, and Celia Imrie in the film, based on the best-selling novel by TV's Richard Osman.
But Helen wasn't the only one showing off her age-defying looks on Monday night - Gillian Anderson looked absolutely stunning in a silver strappy dress as she made her way down the catwalk. And it seems like the actress has found her groove - she's currently starring in The Crown, playing the role of Margaret Thatcher.
Meanwhile, younger models Kendall Jenner, Heidi Klum, and Cara Delevingne also strutted their stuff on the runway, showing off some seriously stylish outfits. But the real surprise came when former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague made an unexpected appearance on the catwalk. The reality TV star had previously turned down an offer to walk in the show due to struggles with her own body confidence.
"I was asked to walk but I said no," Molly-Mae told L'Oréal makeup artists backstage at the show. "It's just not my bag. These legs weren't cut out for this." But it seems like she's come a long way since then - and now, she's rocking a confident new look, complete with shorter locks.
Rochelle Humes, who joined L'Oréal Paris as their brand ambassador four years ago, also made an appearance on the catwalk. The British beauty has been working with the French brand for a while now, and it seems like she's found her niche - after all, she's got the perfect blend of confidence and style.
As for Molly-Mae, it looks like she's finally found her place in the fashion world - and we can't wait to see what she does next. Paris Fashion Week runs from Monday September 29 to Tuesday October 7, with a host of stars expected to be heading to the French capital for shows.
