Bond Buzz: Aaron Taylor-Johnson Poised to Take Over as James Bond

The cat's out of the bag, and it looks like Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the man most likely to don the iconic tuxedo and take on the coveted role of James Bond! After months of speculation and rumors swirling around various A-listers, the 35-year-old actor has emerged as the bookies' favorite to replace Daniel Craig.

Taylor-Johnson's rise to stardom began with his breakout role as John Lennon in the 2007 biopic "Nowhere Boy," which earned him critical acclaim. He then catapulted to fame with his roles in "Kick-Ass" and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he played Pietro Maximoff (aka Quicksilver). With a net worth of over £14.8 million, Taylor-Johnson is already a household name, and it seems he's about to land the most coveted role in Hollywood.

Already a star before playing Bond for the first time in 2005 blockbuster Casino Royale (pictured), Craig amassed a reported $100million from his six outings as the secret agent

But what makes him the perfect candidate for Bond? For starters, his chiseled good looks and charming on-screen presence would make him an instant hit with audiences worldwide. Not to mention, his versatility as an actor has been showcased in a range of genres, from action-packed thrillers to romantic dramas. Omega Watches, the official timepiece partner of the James Bond franchise, has already taken notice, signing Taylor-Johnson to a lucrative commercial deal.

The news sent shockwaves through betting platforms, with Oddschecker reporting a surge in bets on Taylor-Johnson by three times compared to the previous fortnight! Leon Blackman, a spokesperson for Oddschecker, revealed that 67% of bets have been placed in favor of Taylor-Johnson replacing Daniel Craig as 007.

But what about his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson? The talented director of "Fifty Shades of Grey" met her husband on the set of "Nowhere Boy," and it seems their love story is only just beginning. With Taylor-Johnson's career soaring to new heights, it's no wonder he's been linked to the coveted role of Bond.

In a telling sign, Taylor-Johnson recently signed with Omega Watches, stating, "I have always had an appreciation for timepieces, especially Omega." His admiration for the luxury brand is evident, and it seems they share his enthusiasm for the James Bond franchise. The CEO of Omega praised Taylor-Johnson as "a versatile actor with a range that covers action, thriller, romance, and much more," qualities that would make him an ideal fit for the role.

Taylor-Johnson has been tight-lipped about the possibility of becoming Bond, telling Esquire, "It's not really for me to say anything." But it seems his actions speak louder than words. Steven Knight, the acclaimed screenwriter behind BBC crime drama "Peaky Blinders," is set to pen the latest James Bond movie, with Taylor-Johnson rumored to be in talks to star.

The new Bond film is currently in development, with Denis Villeneuve at the helm and Amazon MGM Studios overseeing the project. Tanya Lapointe will serve as executive producer, while Amy Pascal and David Heyman are set to produce through their respective production companies, Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films. With this A-list team on board, it's no wonder Taylor-Johnson is the top contender for the role.
