98-Year-Old 'Mr. Feeny' Gives Fans Heart Attacks with Misinterpreted Post!

Fans of the popular 1990s sitcom Boy Meets World were in shock on Thursday after they misinterpreted a social media post from William Daniels, who played the high school teacher Mr. Feeny

BOY MEETS WORLD STARS FANS INTO A PANIC WITH "DEATH" POST, BUT IT'S ALL JUST A JOKE!

The drama unfolded on social media yesterday when fans of the beloved 90s sitcom Boy Meets World thought they had just received some devastating news. William Daniels, the lovable and iconic Mr. Feeny from the show, posted a photo of himself from his Boy Meets World days on Instagram, complete with a caption that sent shockwaves throughout the fandom.

The picture itself was innocuous enough - Daniels, now 98 years young, was sporting a dashing dark sport coat and a purple patterned tie as he crossed his arms and gave a faint grin. But it was the caption that had fans jumping to conclusions: "Something about this time of year always takes me back to one of my favorite roles as Mr. Feeny... Let's celebrate this back-to-school season with 10% off all signed Feeny photos from our shop, now through September 15th!"

Fans who didn't read his caption sheepishly admitted they feared he might have died ¿ but when they read the text they realized that the 98-year-old actor was alive and well and just offering them a discounted on signed photos of himself; pictured in 2022 in Burbank, Calif.

In a nutshell, fans thought the photo was announcing Daniels' passing, and they were FREAKING OUT! "Every f**n time a picture gets posted, I fear he passed," one devastated fan admitted in the comments section. Another fan couldn't help but GIF Denzel Washington looking shocked and relieved, while someone else confessed that their heart skipped a beat.

But little did fans know, Daniels was just having a bit of fun with them! The caption was an innocent advertisement for signed photos of himself from his Boy Meets World days - and it seemed that some people needed to lighten up!

"BILL STOP DOING THAT!!" one exasperated fan pleaded. Another joked, "MR. FEENY!!! Don't do that I thought you departed from us!" And yes, there were even a few conspiracy theorists out there who thought Daniels was just trolling them for laughs.

SO, WHO IS WILLIAM DANIELS AND WHY DOES HE MATTER?

For those who may be new to the world of Boy Meets World (or perhaps need a refresher), William Daniels is an American actor and singer who has been active in the entertainment industry since the 1950s. Born on March 31, 1927, Daniels began his career as a stage actor before transitioning to television and film.

In addition to his iconic role as Mr. Feeny, which earned him widespread recognition, Daniels has had an impressive array of credits under his belt - including a Tony Award-winning performance in the Broadway production of A Thousand Clowns, a recurring role on the classic TV series St. Elsewhere (for which he won an Emmy), and memorable appearances in films like The Graduate (as Dustin Hoffman's father) and Two For The Road.

AND DID YOU KNOW...?

Not only was Daniels part of the original Boy Meets World cast as Mr. Feeny, but his real-life wife, Bonnie Bartlett, also joined the show to play his character's new wife! And in a delightful full-circle moment, Daniels returned for several guest appearances on the spin-off series Girl Meets World, which aired from 2014 to 2017.

Now that we've got our hearts back where they belong (in the "William Daniels is alive and well" zone), let's take a look at some of his most notable roles:

  • As Mark Craig in St. Elsewhere (1982-1988)
  • As John Adams in the 1972 film adaptation of 1776
  • As Dustin Hoffman's father in The Graduate (1969)
  • As Dr. Mark Craig in the medical drama St. Elsewhere

SO, WHAT'S NEXT FOR WILLIAM DANIELS?

With over six decades under his belt and a slew of iconic roles to his name, William Daniels is undoubtedly one of Hollywood's most beloved veterans. While we can't say for certain what's next on his horizon (perhaps a Mr. Feeny spin-off series?!), one thing's for sure: this charming septuagenarian will always have our hearts - and our admiration!
